Perhaps changed most of all out of all of the packs is this place. It was stripped out of its forested home and now instead lays at the edge of an ocean. The vast sparkling eternity of the water lays to the south of the land, while the rest of the land is made of rocky outjuttings. Gone are the trees, and all that remains for greenery are the short shrubs that dot the paths in the rock, and the moss that grows thanks to the spray of the waves. Further toward the shore, barnacles are a plenty, and look to cut the pads of those who slip on the wet surface. These extend out into the water itself, and the tough land has multiple caverns scraped into it, providing ample dens for the wolves that live there. Depending on the tide, however, the lower caverns may flood, and the vicious swirling water may prove to be dangerous as there is a strong undertide ready to pull unsuspecting swimmers to their doom. Even the tide itself is powerful enough to push intruders against one cliff or another. The ocean does provide, however, plenty of food for those who brave the waters - there are many breeds of seals and sea lions, though the males that protect each of these are vicious and territorial. There are also turtles that come ashore to breed and to lay their eggs - both the adults and the eggs themselves can provide sustenance to the wolves. But they must take care - the water is deep enough to allow sharks to come to shore from the depths below. Those unwilling to venture the waves or wet their paws with the moist sand of the shore can find snakes and hares in the rocky outcroppings, but they must beware the Komodo dragon and other monitor lizards that perch upon the shore - they are swift and move in groups, not to mention they carry venom in their bite that causes immense pain, paralysis, and prevents blood clotting. This is not the land for the weak of heart or the weak at all really. This is Uyaraut - ‘The Diamond in the Rough’.

Nimueh made a remark about being the jealous type and Dakota could not hold back a hearty chuckle. The idea that a vixen with her particular prowess would be prone to jealously seemed delightfully backwards to the rusty orange male.

“Oh no worries, my dear. I’m not greedy; even if others dared to occupy my thoughts there’s always room for one more.”

He tried to decipher her tone to his question as he circled her an examined her wounds. ‘Too excited to sleep’ she had remarked just coyly enough to make his thoughts ponder the meaning instead of just letting it go to the wind. He wanted to ask too excited for what? but he would have just been being nosy at that point. Besides, although he was curious it was fun to allow that little mystery to hang in the air between them. After commenting on her wounds he took notice of her eye roll and she closed the gap of the few paw steps he had retreated. He allowed her to close the distance and she rested her shoulder against his chest. Dakota was suddenly very aware of his body’s exhaling and inhaling. She teased him regarding his inquiry to the alpha’s condition and then purred at his jaw. Nimueh may have been a small package but for a wolf like him who’d had very little mental stimulation the last few weeks, she was a lot to take in. And he wanted to take in everything he could; after all, he wasn’t anti-social. Lying low for so long had really managed to drain the life out of him.

The flirtatious minx turned towards him and commented on her injury as he sat back on his haunches. “The price she paid for being smart and beautiful”… she was intriguing but ‘Kota’d be damned if he understood what she was talking about. What did one thing have to do with the other? He tilted his head like a perplexed puppy and his eyes focused on the movement of the muscles that she was showing off. The initial glimpse made his stomach feel a little flippy but not to the point that he wished to redirect his dark eyes. In fact, he actually found himself leaning in a little to get a closer look. He very visibly grimaced which was probably what prompted her to ask “does it bother you, to see it?" His eyes flickered up to hers and then back to the injury, although he did sit back up straight after she spoke.

“Not exactly. It’s more fascinating than it is disturbing. But…” His masculine tone trailed off momentarily as his eyes found hers once gain. “In order to examine such a wound, a significant amount of pain must be felt. That does bother me.” He knew his somber tone was probably killing the playful mood that had attempted to surface early in their conversation and he was glad when she stood up and began walking away, signaling that they were about to change the subject. As the distance between them slowly grew, he stood up and shook in a half-hearted effort to release any dirty debris that might be clinging to his thick coat.

Dakota’s petite pack mate offered to tag along on a border patrol in the sultriest way a wolf could probably ever manage. A charming smile formed on his lips and he sighed in content. “I’ll never be bored with you around.” He stated matter-of-factly as he matched his stride with hers. “What exactly are you hoping to find out about me, Mon'Amie? He slipped into a little bit of an accent on that last word, similar to what humans would call the French tongue. If she looked at him in response to the accent he would return the wink that she had sent his way a few minutes earlier.
