aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

wolf

The raven colored female was still embarrassed by her actions. Despite her emotions she should have been more careful and made sure that Kal was alone when she sought him out in such a state. It was not good to appear weak and vulnerable around newcomers at the borders of Aurora. She got lucky this time with the varg here being a friend of Kalgalath’s and not a stranger or an enemy. But embarrassment still filled her at how she acted, and shame for how it had looked in front of her alpha. Yellow orbs looked on awkwardly to the two males as they finished their conversation and Kal asked her to give him a tour of the lands. Luckily the male did not seem to turned off by her strange actions and was even acting as if nothing had happened. The pair were making conversation, and it came back to Chenzii faster than she thought it would. It had been so long since she had had interaction with other lupines, and she knew this was what she needed to get out of her slump. Even if it was a slump that any in her position would have gone through. She needed to be able to move on and get her life back.

The dark ess explained how uneventful her joining of Aurora had been and that Gwaine’s story couldn’t be as boring as hers. The handsome male returned her smile as he answered her, “You flatter me, Chenzii, truly. I’m sure your story is just as interesting, if not more. Even the simplest of tales always hold more to them than meets the eye. Fight or no, every story is exciting in its own way. And I do believe that I will be living here. I’m afraid you won’t be able to shake me that easily.” The male winked at her with his last words, and the female blushed under her dark pelt. It had been so long since she had had this kind of interaction with a male. She didn’t think that it would happen again after what had happened with her last mate. But this was just harmless flirting, at least right now. And there was nothing wrong with that. Chenzii shyly smiled at him, hoping that it wouldn’t be too obvious that she was trying not to make a fool of herself in front of him.

And then the pair had set off. Chenzii set the pace, not too fast so he could take in the beauty of the land but not too slow so that he got bored. Their first stop had been at the lake, and the paused for a few moments to get some water and chat. They talked about the pups that had recently come to Aurora and Gwaine laughed at the thought of them playing around. “They are little rapscallions, aren’t they.” And then the duo was off to a few more spots that Chenzii thought were important to know, especially the healers in case of an emergency. Things had been very peaceful lately but that didn’t mean that it would last forever. When they finished the tour she told the brujo that he had picked a good home here, and she once more found herself unconsciously smiling at the male. “What can I say? I am known for my excellent taste. At least I would be, if I was known for anything. Now, as far as real estate, you must know the best locations for a den. Any secret gems of Aurora known only to a few?”

Chenzii paused a moment before answering the male. So far she was the only one living where she was. Some wolves liked to keep their dens close together and others liked their privacy. She had not purposefully picked a secluded spot, but when she had first come here she had known no one and decided that a secluded place was best and that she could always change it later if she wanted to. But now she had grown used to its quiet seclusion, but it was definitely something to be called a secret gem. Surely one other wolf coming in nearby wouldn’t disturb her peace? Finally the femme gave him a smile and nodded, turning to lead the way as she explained. ”I found a nice place when I first moved here, and no one else has come nearby to make a den since. I’ll show you the spot and if you like it you could make a den there as well. I’ll show you a few other popular places along the way.” Her yellow orbs turned to watch the male for a moment before focusing back on their task.

The pair passed by an area where she knew a good amount of wolves had made dens. Some were empty and abandoned and there was still place for new dens to be built. It was a sunny grassy area that was surrounded by ferns and shrubbery where dens could be dug into the ground. Her paws stopped in their tracks, looking around at the land that was still open to live in. ”I know a lot of wolves have lived here, and still do. There are some dens that you could take if you didn’t want to dig your own. But it can be busy here with all the beings that live here. So it depends what style of life you want.” She waited to see what he would think of this place before she turned back to the trees to show him the other place. It got a bit darker as there was more trees hiding the sun from getting in. Chenzii had not purposefully picked a darker area but that was what it was. Her head ducked under some ferns as she pushed through the brush to get to her den. The area had a hill that sloped up and she had dug her den into the hill. It had always been home to her and no other beings had come here. Maybe because it was a little harder to get to and it was darker, but she still liked it here. ”And this is a more secluded place. The only den here is mine, but there is lots of space where others could move in too. Not as many wolves travel through here so there’s not as much traffic. Again depends on what type of life style you like.” She once more smiled at him, hoping that it would not be weird that she had shown him where she lived.

"We were never meant to last," She whispers.
