every man has his torments

With a great wealth of noise came a stallion dressed in shades of creamy gold and whites; he appeared as if he belonged among the burst of color that was this territory. Idelle, keeping her seeing eye pointed toward him, found herself smiling at his greeting. It was a small smile, a polite smile, but she wondered if she’d ever before met a stallion so filled with life as he was.

Turning her head so she could properly extend her neck and bump her muzzle to his, Idelle exchanged breaths before pulling back and turning her head once more, never once wanting this enchanting stallion to fall from her sight. She was happy to learn this was the stallion she was looking for – Ailill – and she’d come to the piece of beach and jungle she was instructed to swim to. Life might have been made far more difficult if she’d wandered into the wrong place instead.

“Ailill, I’m so happy to meet you!” Idelle said, happy smile worn on her mouth, giving her head a bob or two. “Sorry – I’m Idelle – we’re… cousins, I think!” It was the simplest way to be explained, thought Idelle, considering there were so many branches of relations now. “Your grandfather… Tarrant?” Idelle hoped he remembered the white-flecked and gold stallion, for she’d crossed him in her travels away from the mainlands while he searched for his son, “He told me about you and said if I ever needed a home while I was at the islands, I should come and speak to you.” She hoped it wasn’t rude to simply show up like she was and ask for protection, for it was more than simply providing a place for her to stay.

“I’m… I’m pregnant, or I’m pretty sure I am, and I just don’t feel safe staying on Crossing.” Idelle paused with a look of slight worry, “I’ve heard rumors the Lagoon bachelors are stirring up trouble and I couldn’t handle the thought of my child being hurt.” She looked concerned for a moment before sighing. “I’m sorry, I know it’s so much to ask of you, but you have such a beautiful home and I want my child to be raised somewhere it will be loved and encouraged to explore the world.”
