Did he hear about them often? He huffed, a momentary display of humor before he shrugged, dismissive of such a thing. "Wolves here do not flatter." It was true. If a wolf of Glorall liked his eyes, he would not know. Perhaps his sister had learnt flattery elsewhere but such things were not so typically taught within Glorall's circle of wolves.
Besides, it seemed as if she had come for a much more interesting purpose. Her confidence at his comments mildly surprised him, expectant that she might mirror his own in order to obtain favor. Yet, he supposed she might have guessed she had already won some based on her not having been chased out - he had never been all too good at hiding his interest, seldom interested in doing so anyway. "And what would you have your Chancellor do?" He shot back quickly, his voice as placid as ever nonetheless - a double edged question. Firstly, he wanted to know what a Chancellor was. Secondly, he wanted to know why she had come and what she needed - or wanted - from him.
At least, he supposed with a flicker of amusement, she was happy to play his games. He shifted on his paws at her response. "Empress," he repeated, tasting the word as he briefly assessed her, his eyes sliding down her before settling back on her eyes, "then you ought to call me Chancellor." He paused then, a hint of a grin tugging at his lip. "Unless you prefer to call me Emperor." He could not help but toy with her. He seldom encountered others willing to play.
He rose then, stretching up to his full height and stretching back, a feigned relaxation despite his eyes never leaving her. His head lolled to its side once more, a flick of his ear. "Do Empresses often visit strangers simply to stare at water?" He was happy to play but he supposed he ought to follow his father's instructions. In any case, he had become intrigued by this girl. He might as well enjoy her company in whatever fashion before he return to his usual quietness.
