Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

He raised an eyebrow slightly when her face lit up with fascination at his mention of dragons. Her green eyes brightened as she spoke of the dragon legends that came from her homeland, and he found himself growing slightly excited too. It seemed that her enthusiasm was infectious. Senketsu's crimson eyes left hers for a moment to look towards the skies above the peaks in the distance.

For a split second, it was almost as if he could make out a gigantic winged beast disappearing behind the clouds, but before he could be sure he had seen something, it was gone. A trick of the light, undoubtedly. But interesting nonetheless. If dragons did exist, he was sure that they would come from the homeland of this curious girl.

"Are you so sure that you won't grow up into a dragon, then?" Senketsu teased, his tail waving lightly. "The dragons in Wolf Mountain's legends came from eggs, sometimes laid by a breeding pair, and other times they were mysteriously found, nestled in the grass or behind some rocks. You were said to be quite lucky if a dragon respected you enough to accompany you." He realized, then, that he was getting quite ahead of himself, and his face turned from one of excitement to a more muted version. "Of course, I won't believe it until I see it." He said with a chuckle.

Senketsu let silence lie between them for a moment or two, before he tilted his head and looked at her. "I don't mean to be so forward, but... why have you traveled so far from your homeland?"

She was young, and didn't exactly look to be much of a fighter. Neither was he, but he at least had a companion to help if things happened to go south. It was curious to see a lone traveler, especially a young woman of her disposition. He wondered how it was that she had made it so far with nothing to show in way of scrapes or cuts. Perhaps she was stronger than her figure let on.
