Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She'd had the dream on a recurring basis now, ever since she told her mentor - Niviaq - about it. The glass cavern, as she'd begun to think of it, was often present in her mind whether she was awake or asleep. And though the girl had roamed much of Spirane throughout her youth, learning of the land and the plants and herbs that grew throughout, she had never come across such a cave. When she wasn't busy with healing lessons or other tasks she'd taken on, Moonfeather had begun scouring the mountainside. If the cave still existed (or ever did in the first place) she was determined to find it. It was that searching that brought her down towards the southern foothills that fringed the Aplos headwaters.

Her attention was turned ever inwards, turquoise eyes searching the nooks and crannies of the alpine landscape for a hidden entrance to a secret place that had not been visited in many years. For once, the girl was alone, her raven companion having disappeared early that morning on some unknown avian errand. And though her focus was on the hunt for the glass cavern, Moonfeather was attuned to the world around on her a different level than many. So when the sound of a wolf collapsing reached her back-turned ears, her head flicked around to search for the source. Her brows stitched together as her gaze flitted over the outskirts of Spirane, wishing that Kutcha was with her so he could fly ahead and relay the whether or not the situation was dangerous to her.

But today she was on her own, so she struck out at a cautious jog, careful to seek the cover of trees where she could and tall grasses where she could not. Though an innately trusting young woman, she was not foolish. The last thing she wanted to do was stumble into some skirmish on the borders. But if someone was hurt - and her instincts told her they were - she might be able to help. She spotted the two wolves - one laid in a heap on the ground, while the other seemed to rest in an agitated state at her side. Her first instinct was to look for blood - a sure sign of a struggle - and when she saw none she waited no longer. Walking forward, she kept her distance for the moment and called out to the male. "Hello, do you need some help?"
