The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

The male had had a lot on his mind lately, and he was not used to this. Not much had changed within Abendrot to distract him, but it was more his personal life. The pack that he led was not one that liked to share large amounts about personal life, except to close friends. The only close friend Grey Wind had had here was Kershov. Well that was the case before Macaria. If the male was honest with himself then he was friends with her, more than friends really, and he was still avoiding that whole situation. If he had met her years ago things would have been so different. He had seen how his mother and father interacted. They were a good case, truly in love and there for each other. Grey Wind had always looked up to his father, not only for this but for many reasons, and he had wanted to be just like the male that raised him. If he had run into Macaria before losing his family and having his entire life changed, he would have wooed her. He would have been kind and gentle and sweet. But he was not the same male anymore, he had changed when he lost his family.

But that was not when he had met Macaria. He had met her after, and that had changed everything. There had been nothing romantic or kind about their relationship, yet Grey Wind found himself with strong feelings for the girl. But instead of being honest with her and talking to her, he avoided it. Their relationship had only been physical, in more than one way now, and maybe he had ruined it. Whatever it was that he did, she had left. It had been a long time since she had shared his den, but he still found himself assuming that she would come back, even though he gave her no reason to. Deep down, the male knew that he needed to seek her out and be honest, not only with her but with himself, and to tell her what had been going and why he was having such trouble handling normal emotions. Grey Wind knew that he needed to just suck it up and do it, but he was avoiding it, for now anyways. He told himself it was to give Macaria space, but that was a lie. It was to give him space.

Grey Wind had found himself stopped at the borders, standing between the trees looking out into the area where Macaria had left him. He had been so lost in thought that he had not realized where he had wandered to. But then he heard movement behind him and his audettes swiveled to catch the sound. Before he saw the other male he caught the familiar scent of Mabbit. The male had been in the pack for a while now, and he had been here for when Kershov ruled before him. Not only that, but Mabbit had risked his life for the pack when they had been attacked by cougars a while back. The darker colored brute came to Grey Wind’s side, giving the male a smile as he spoke, "Good morning, my King. Would you like any company while scouting?" Sometimes the grey male still found it odd to be addressed as their king or alpha, even though he had been in the position for some time now. But he said nothing of this. "I will never say no to a fellow soldier offering help.” Grey Wind took a brief moment to figure out which way he had come from, and turned in the other direction, giving his tail a flick to Mabbit to let him know to walk along with him. "So tell me, how have you been? Anything to report?” Even though Abendrot members often kept to themselves, the alpha still did like company and he wanted his pack mates to be happy under his rule.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
