Susil Crags

Disaster has struck!
The Crags are a series of rocky formations with small caves and crevices throughout. Many of the lower-lying areas of the Crags have been flooded, however, with water pouring in from the Northern stretches of Moladion. Some paths have been completely submerged, and some are nothing more than a few rocky peaks sticking out of the water. The water is fairly slow moving but begins to pick speed up towards the Grotto, becoming a series of intense rapids and waterfalls as it nears the Grotto's entrance.

The area itself is still traversible. However, it can be risky. Large amounts of debris can enter the waterway, creating bridges at times but also creating dams that break and cause ocassional flash-flooding. Be careful, travelers! One wrong step and you could end up finding out where the water goes.

The howling wind seemed to calm slightly once they pair had left the open fields. It no longer tore at their flesh nor did the snow burn their eyes. Still, it was cold and they had traveled a long way to seek shelter from the sudden blizzard. Halcyon led the way, his red fur standing out against the bleak whiteness. The pup, Mirage, blended it better than he, though her red tips and bloody mast made her seem like a walking blood stain. He might have found the thought funny had the situation not been so dire. After what seemed like a lifetime, the wolves finally found themselves in the crags. Crevasses and openings surrounded them, showing how warm they were tucked away from the winter chill. It didn’t take the older wolf long to find a place they could both rest in comfort.

Not for the first time, Halcyon turned and checked for the small figure. Once he confirmed she was still there, he pointed with his nose which cave would be best for them. Making sure she was safe was his top priority and he wasn’t going to leave her side until he was certain she would be alright. Along the way, he had tried to locate any other wolf who might have also gotten caught in the storm, but no others appeared. He had asked her about her parents, but Mirage had seemed to dodge around the question. It had been her idea to come to the Crags, and he obliged, keeping her close and trying his best to shield her from the cold.

Finally, it was his turn to enter the cave, which he did without pause. Once inside, he shook his pelt free of the frozen water and plopped down in the tight space. It was no den, but the cave was out of the wind and dry, which was all he needed. Licking the snow and ice from his paws, he gazed at Mirage to make sure she wasn’t injured. Once he finished his grooming, he sighed and leaned against the wall of the cave. "Well, that was exciting. Never seen a storm quite like that in all my years. Sneaky bastard. How are you holding up, little one? Is there anything I can do for you? Do you need something to eat? Are you injured? " Waiting for his answers, Halcyon stifled a yawn and forced is eyes to remain open. The day had been exhausting and a nap would be a perfect way to wait out the blizzard. But first things were first. They weren’t quite out of the woods yet and he still needed to help her find her parents.
