Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

"C'mon!" I called out to those lagging towards the back, scanning the group that had come with me from Taviora. The last thing I needed was to make a bad impression during my first outing after the change of leadership, and losing one of the kids under my care was a sure way to do that. Sure that everyone who had left the borders of the forest pack were still with me, I jogged onwards towards the southern fields. I'd come down here a few days prior to see if the rumors were true. Sure enough, all around the sprawling lake rabbits could be seen. Some popped in and out of warrens, others just ran along above ground. They didn't seem to care much for the wolves approaching the area - there were so many of them they could take off in a flurry and cause enough confusion to ensure they made it back to safety in one piece. It almost reminded me of the gophers back home.

Once more I looked around, checking on my charges and wondering which of the games I had thought up would provide the most entertainment. For any of the older pups, this would be a chance for them to prove they were worthy of moving up from Koruk...Koroks? (I was still having a hard time adjusting to the new rank titles Hyrule and Zelda had put in place) to Deku - hunters of the pack. Not that I could guarantee killing a rabbit here would result in a promotion, but it would surely be as good a start as any! And maybe some of the youngest wolves would discover hunting was their calling - or that it wasn't for them. There were heaps of opportunities to be had. But the main one was, of course, to have fun.

Rather than establishing any rules or rewards to start with, I nudged the closest pup to me and motioned towards a nearby rabbit. I glanced around at the others who had come with me and arched my eyebrows in challenge. Then, without warning, I streaked off towards the rabbit, sweeping around and angling back towards the group of Tavioran wolves. Rushing the small prey animal, I set it running right back towards the young wolves. Of course it would eventually veer off course, but I wanted to get the rest of the group moving and joining in on the chase. There were plenty of rabbits here to go around!
