The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Daria had come to understand what was Glorall, and what was not. In her mind, there was Home, and the line that kept Home from Outside. She rarely left Home, and when she did, it was for very short periods of time. She had no names for the places outside of Home, and did not understand that these places could bring danger to her if she crossed paths with the wrong wolf. So far she had been lucky to remain unbothered, and that her interactions with strangers had been limited to her New Other, though he was more like Lifegiver than Other had ever been. They slept at each other’s sides the way that she and Other did, but he provided her food the same was Lifegiver had. He was an oddity in her mind, but he was her’s and that was all that mattered to the golden-backed girl.

She had started the day wandering through Home, and had not noticed that she had crossed the line into Outside. Brilliant opalescent eyes took in everything with awe, dainty paws wandering without care or purpose as she stopped to investigate anything that interested her. As she had grown, so had her collection, though she was much more picky about what joined it. She shared her collection, as she did everything, with New Other, and she always kept him in mind when she was deciding if something was fit to put in her collection. It was as her paws met sand that she stopped, confusion filling her as she gazed at the collection of caves before her. Sand meant Home, and this was most certainly not Home. Crimson tipped ears twitched uncertainly as her head tipped, eyes narrowing as she strained to see into the darkness. Still, curiosity filled her and she made her way into the darkness with little fear of what could lurk inside it.

A noise she associated with water was present in the caves, despite the fact that it was a drip-drip compared to the crashing waves of Home. She paused often, warped mind fascinated by the stalactite that seemed to be everywhere. It was during one of these pauses that she heard a girlish voice, dark crown snapping up as her tail began a furious wave behind her. Another! She didn’t waste time and followed the voice eagerly as it spoke again, grinning broadly in the dim light as her eyes landed on the dark girl in the water. ”Friend?” the girl parroted curiously, unsure of the concept. ”What Friend?” she asked, blinking owlishly as she inched closer to the girl. Her vocabulary had expanded some since being joined by New Other, but this was not a word he had yet explained to her.
