Runing would not be enough. Even in her frenzied panic she knew the dark male would try to find a way to hunt her down. She could only thankful Despoina had chosen to go in a different direction. Two targets were harder to hunt than one. If Aranck chose to go after her, so be it. If he went after Despoina he would be biting off more than he could chew, but Pine’s distraction could give the other warrior the chance she needed to escape. Possibly the chance she needed to live, through that the chance they needed to right the wrong.
Pine’s mind raced with her body. She knew the one place she needed to get to. Cenna. All she needed was to get to Cenmatl’s side ad she would be able to figure out her next steps. She was so focused on finding her Imprint she almost literally ran into Halcyon.
The reappearance of the lost Elite, the Past King, the Last Heir, took the runaway completely by surprise. Halcyon! she barked excitedly, her joy in seeing him wiping out the memory that blood was running down her painted face. Hal! We need you! Iromar has fallen, Aster is lost! We need your help… The words tumbled from her mouth in a jumble, she was not completely sure they had even articulated themselves into words. Pine took a deep breath and spoke more slowly. Hal, we need to get Iromar back. But I am worried he will kill us if he finds out.
