The child curled up in a ball as she moved her paw away she was pleased yet let down by how the child reacted. Part of her wanted to push it slightly to have the child stand but she didn’t need to be harsh in these moments. He made himself smaller, knew his place and all the same, she wouldn’t take her teeth to him; for starters, it was Thoth’s gift and even she wouldn’t talk about its fate when it came to her companion. Right now, however, she looked with intrigue debating to nudge it forward so she could watch it or let it lay where it would be silent and cause no trouble. in these moments her mind made no demands or provided direction she was simply at a loss.
Sekhmet gazed the landscape quietly and caught a glimpse of Thoth in the distance. The look in his eyes was clear enough. She knew he wasn’t overly pleased but as he approached and pressed his nose into her fur she sighed. No reason was made to challenge or defy his right to touch her and she allowed this comfort in silence. His gaze shifted to the child between her paws and returned to her own. He seemed almost pleased with it as he moved to investigate the prize. Sekhmet wasn’t one for tail wags or outwards expressions of enthusiasm but she was pleased he liked his gift at least more so than the sponge it seemed.
She watched as he lifted his muzzle and a hiss escaped; she knew he wanted her to call someone but she blinked offering him a look of disappointment. She wasn’t so much attached to the prize she carried from Iromar however it belonged to her and Thoth, in her mind anyways. She had no desire to let anyone take it without it something she wished as well. It was an interesting prize and yet Sekhmet knew that Thoth had his reasons so she tilted her head back and called out, perhaps it wasn’t to anyone specific but the one she met was most likely to be the creature to approach and any others she wold tolerate only a glance for this matter didn’t concern them.
Now she had time to kill in waiting for the woman so she moved to press her muzzle into Thoth’s cheek aiming to nip slightly before moving to brush against him again unless he moved from her touch or teeth. She rarely offered affectionate caresses, but these moments were rare and meaningful all the same. Her body felt heavier, the journey was long and the heat zapped a lot of her energy. It wasn’t long until she found herself stretching out and laying near Thoth and their prize. Though Thoth could use his teeth to prod her to move for now she felt a comfort rarely experienced in her travels. Her mind was silent and so too her company she could finally nap peacefully, for now at least.
