AKA the Murphy Branch, Murphy to Asheville.
NS had abandoned the route from Murphy to Andrews, and just as the tracks were slated to be pulled,...some locals bought out the segment and started the Great Smokey Mountain railroad. They still operate the line from Dillsboro to Andrews with the remaining portion still there but dormant.
in 2014, NS leased the line from Asheville to Dillsboro to the Blue Ridge Southern Railroad. NS also leased a segment of the W line(Saluda to Asheville) and the TR Line(Asheville to Brevard) to BRS. Replies:
