At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

 The pup moved away from her - anxious, nervous, scared... and even though it was obvious that the pup was cold and hungry, the faeling did not jump at the chance for shelter and a meal. Instead, she questioned Hellene, questioned Hellene's honesty and trustworthiness. 'That sounds okay. My name's Vivi. How do I know I can trust you?' Hellene shook her head sadly. "Honey, nothing in life is sure. I cannot prove to you that you can trust me." How much this little fae reminded her of her sister - a wolf who thought everything through before making any decision. The only difference the pair of them was thus - the pup had aired her thoughts where Athene never would have. For Athene, talking was something best left to a minimum. "The only advice that I can give to you is to look inside yourself to decide how you feel about me. I will tell you that you are not the first pup I have helped - I adopted a pup who was nervous of the ways of the world, Destan, and another young fae named Khaleesi who is now a beautiful femme, and a healer - like me. If you come with me, you can share my den until you find one of your own, and I will catch meals for you. Kalgalath - the Alpha - would not force you to join, and if you do not wish for me to be your mother, I do not have to be.
