At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The female was looking forward to when she would not have to break through a layer of ice to get to her drinking water. The cold didn’t bother her too much though, her thick black fur kept her plenty warm from the chill in the air. Luckily at the stream the water was always moving so the ice was not able to grow very thick, and her paw was able to easily break through it. Chenzii was lost in thought as she bent down to lap at the ice cold water. So much had changed in the past year. Aurora Borealis continued to grow, and she was happy to see her best friend so happy with his growing family. But she had also lost a best friend. Since the day she had been accepted into the pack, Magic had been around. The other raven colored ess has been friendly, and she had become quick friends with Chenzii. Since the moment they had met the two had been there for each other. When Magic’s mate, Glitch, continued to come in and out of her life, leaving her heart broken many times, Chenzii had stayed by her side, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to vent to. The more that the femme heard about Glitch and saw how many times he left her friend, the more that she disliked him. But it was clear that Magic loved him, and she was utterly destroyed when he died. It had torn her apart, and instead of staying with her friends in Aurora, she had left.

Losing Magic had not been the only close varg that she had lost that year. Within the same year, Chenzii had found two pups and adopted them, having a brand new look on life. She had always wanted pups of her own, but after her old mate left her she had lost that idea. Adopting Vita and Mortem had been one of the happiest days of her life. Raising them as her own had been a challenging but fun experience, and getting to know the two pups had been extremely rewarding. But then a freak accident had happened, and Vita had died. Chenzii was heart-broken losing her daughter. She had assumed that Mortem would stay, wanting to be with family and not alone, but the exact opposite had happened. The teen male had decided he was better off alone and had left, leaving Chenzii on her own once more. And that was what had brought her to an all time low. Magic was gone, her pups were gone, she felt like she had no one. But seeing her friend Kal, and being given the task of showing a newcomer around had reminded her that she was not truly alone. Aurora would always be there for her.

The femme was pulled from her thoughts when a familiar voice reached her audettes. She jumped slightly, not paying attention to the world around her and she hadn’t heard the male approach. “Fancy meeting you here. Long time no see, neighbor. What brings you out here on this fine morning?” Chenzii turned with a smile on the kissers to the male, moving aside so he too could lap at the water from the flowing water. ”Hello Gwaine. Just out for a stroll I suppose. Are you on any type of agenda today?” Having a crush was not something that the female was knew to, and she recognized the warm and fuzzy feelings her stomach that she felt when she was around him, and she knew what it meant. She was thankful for her dark pelt so the male didn’t see the blush form at just being around him.

"We were never meant to last," She whispers.
