Many wolves looking for relaxation come to Blossom Field. A gentle breeze vibrating the blossoming flowers is quite a sight to see and it is quite a favourite for wolves to come with their mates.

A recent fire has ruined the scenery, half the field covered with soot and marked with scars of the flames. The other half is untouched, however.

But it’s always there;;

The female was still in shock about what had happened. It didn’t seem real to her, maybe it was all a dream? Or more like a nightmare. But the pain in her limb was very real, and kept her grounded to the present. She felt hazy and cloudy, and a part of her just wanted to lie down and never get up, to ignore her pain, both physical and mental, and to forget about it all. But that was not possible, that was not how she had been trained. She had been trained to deal with these things, to get up and move on and figure it out. Shasta couldn’t just lie down and give up. When she turned to the male next to her she realized he was feeling something similar to herself, or at least she guessed he did. He had a far off look, like his thoughts were not in the present but dwelling on other things. What Horizon was thinking about though, she did not know. And she was not going to ask him here with all the others around.

The long stilted female forced herself to move, getting Horizon’s attention, pleading with him for them to go somewhere else. She couldn’t bear to be alone right now and she wasn’t ready to face her father right now. Despite what had happened, she was still her stubborn self and wouldn’t talk to him until he apologized to her, though she was glad that he was okay and hadn’t been one of the casualties of this battle. With a tug at the nape of Horizon, the two left together. The male still had not said a word to her, and she only assumed that he was waiting until they were alone to talk. He seemed to be in shock still from what had happened. The pair of kalaks walked away together, leaning on each for both physical and mental support. Having Horizon there to lean on made it much easier for her to get around with her broken limb, making it easier to keep it off the ground with the male’s side to lean on. Despite the extra support, it was still a lot of work for her to walk, and their pace was slow and labored. But they made it away from the group, to a quiet field where the two could have some safety and privacy.

Finally the femme felt like she could relax and breathe. They were away from danger. There were not multiple vargs trying to kill them anymore. And they had both survived. Shasta couldn’t imagine how much worse this would be if Horizon wasn’t here with her by her side. Her thoughts went to her family, to her aunt Shae and her pups, and could only pray that they had survived this assault. After a moment to catch her breath, the femme limped over to Horizon, concern on her features for the male. She felt more at ease being with him, but still wasn’t sure what their status was. It was in this moment that Shasta fully understood her feelings for the male. Being in love was not something that you could teach to someone. Even if you were around those that were in love, it wasn’t until it happened to you that you could really understand it. Horizon was all she cared about, he was the most important thing in her life and she wouldn’t be here without him. And she wouldn’t want to be here without him. He had become her entire world.

Horizon still had not uttered a word to her, and when she asked if he was alright, instead of speaking his mismatched orbs just bore into her own. She cocked her head, not realizing that he had gone back to his mute form from being around Farant and other nightmares from his past. The femme just assumed he didn’t want to talk about what had happened, and she wouldn’t force him to talk, not until he was ready. Instead she began to groom him, hoping they could communicate in other ways if he didn’t want to speak words. Shasta felt Horizon shiver under her touch, and she paused for a moment, looking up to him to make sure he was okay with what she was doing, but since he didn’t move away she went back to cleaning his wounds and fur. After a few moments she felt his own touch on her form. The two stayed in silence, embracing each others company in an intimate cleaning. To Shasta it was not just her fur that was being cleaned, but herself. Today had been the first time she had taken the life of another wolf, and though she knew it was necessary it was not something that she had enjoyed or wanted to repeat. But being here with Horizon, his warm tongue cleaning her, made everything better and okay again.

When the two had finished cleaning each others’ wounds, Horizon left a kiss on her cheek. Shasta could feel the spot fill with a different kind of warmth, a lingering burning that she wanted to stay with her forever. With a contented sigh she leaned into the male, her head going under his chin, nudging at him for attention and touch. The femme had never been one that had needed the touch and love of others, being very independent, but it was different with Horizon. She wanted to feel him on her all the time, wanted to always be touching him and by his side. Despite everything that had happened, the female was happy and content. She lay down on the ground, keeping her injured limb up and made sure not to let it touch the ground. Her jaws gently went to Horizon’s nape, trying to pull him down with her, needing to feel his embrace around her. And she curled into his form, a whine escaping her throat at the happiness she felt just from being with him.

Talking
hearing you words
my thoughts
I walk on
