Personality: Raghnaid is loud, extroverted and brash. She has a great deal of well-earned confidence, and excels at most things she tries her hand at - when she can be bothered. Her teachers would describe her as able but lazy. Raghnaid's social life and sports are more important to her than most things. She's athletic and plays more or less every sport her small village offers, and follows the rest on TV. She can lack empathy and has a tendency to barge ahead and secure the things she wants for herself, often forgetting to consider those around her (including her sister). Raghnaid is definitely the dominant twin and has frequently led her sister into all sorts of mischief. She gets frustrated with Maisie's shyness and sometimes her clinginess. Raghnaid is quite happy to pursue her interests on her own or to push Maisie to do things with her, but she doesn't like doing the things Maisie likes to do.

She especially loves reading, and enjoys nothing more than to lose herself in a fantasy book. Because Raghnaid is really her only friend (aside from Ailsa), she is desperate to hang around her sister and often gets pushed into doing things she doesn't want to do. Maisie doesn't realise she has any magical powers at all; she and Raghnaid (as well as the rest of their family and village) think that Raghnaid is just an elemental prodigy. They don't realise that half of Raghnaid's powers actually come from Maisie. Privately, Maisie is desperate to be like the heroes in her book and dreams of having magic of her own, not realising she already has some.
