Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Where had he gone?

For a time I had searched high and low, whining often and then retreating to the comfort of my son's figure. Days passed, weeks that churned by with slow hours, and finally the defeat in my steel gray eyes told it all. He had left me.

Just like everyone else before. No, he hadn't kicked ME to the curb, he had kicked himself. So a slight variance but in the end, the same. Snow covered the ground thick and the top was crusted frozen by the sharp drop in temperature overnight. As I peeked out from the massive den that we had all shared I felt a shiver run through me. Nike was nearby and I glanced over. He was a fine sight, all muscle and beautiful fur. My perfect son. None could ever compete with him - I remember that Diveen female once calling her own kids amazing... such a word made my teeth grind. They did not know perfection but I did. He stood right there.

My belly ached with hunger, the cold burning through my calories, but I moved instead towards my son and began to lick his face, grooming his fur in just the right way. The way he liked it. It had a calming effect on me, steadying me, and I nipped at his ear before pulling my small teeth against it to flatten the hairs. Then I gazed at him again, in adoration, in love. "Are you hungry, my son?"
