They had been friends for as long as Halcyon could remember. But even so, hearing Ame speak was always a new experience. No other wolf spoke like him and the russet wolf enjoyed just listening. The tri-colored wolf spoke of family visits and for a brief moment, the young wolf's heart ached. A flash of an image came to his mind of him returning to Asteraia and seeing Iblis and Rhae resting under that old tree together, surrounded by his siblings. The fact that the image of his parents was blurry almost made him choke, but he was able to hold back the emotion and force himself to listen to his friend. Nodding his head solemly, he understood the worry for Ame's father. Though Halcyon didn't know Meryl well, he would always be thankful to the healer for saving his life all those years ago.
It was his turn to speak of home and he couldn't help his drooping ears and small whimper. "I'm sure you've heard by now what's happened in Iromar?" Halcyon began. Then, he launched into the details of what happened to his old home. He explained how he had found Aithne's corpse before leading Aster away. When he spoke of Aranck, his voice was full of lothing. This would be the second wolf who walked into his vengeful targets, only this time, he wouldn't escape his clutches. When he had finished, Halcyon discovered that he had been growling and his hackles had risen on his back. Calming himself down, he lowered his fur and cleared his throat, throwing Ame an apologetic nod.
"But... there's a plan. Pine, a young guard who worked alongside me, is planning a take over. She has tasked me with gathering a few loners who would help us reclaim our home. I know this is asking a lot from you, Ame, and you can say 'no' and I would not shame you for it. Would you join us in taking back Iromar?" His gaze fell upon his friend with sincerity. They were too close to allow a denial to come between them. Still, the image of the two rogues running into battle side by side thrilled him. It would all come down with the other's response.
