She knows. She knows very well something is wrong. She could feel it, upon every inch of her. It angered her and sadden her at the same time. The Monster couldn’t believe she had made it this far for this long. Always she assumed Death would come to her. After all she felt like he was constantly walking beside her, like a haunting Guardian Angel. Death always walked beside her and was perhaps her only friend, a quiet friend that was always there. Truly the aging Monster assumed this would have happened earlier on, and yet she stayed Death, and told him that she wouldn’t be coming with him. Not yet. No, no, not yet. Though it would happen soon. This she knew and was slowly trying to accept.
Today though she needed to find the boy that dared to challenge her foolishly. She had learned, while he was here healing after his foolish attempt, just who he was and why he desperately wanted to have Asteraia as his own. He was the long lost prince of Asteraia. It was a shame his mother was murdered by the pathetic excuse of the green-eyed she-wolf. Jaidah was a name that wasn’t remembered by anyone, but only to herself, and to the family that lost their mother and father. The Monster took Asteraia because she knew not only did it not belong to Jaidah, but because the Monster wanted to take away what she did not deserve. It was over time did the Monster realize she rather enjoyed being Alpha, but she couldn’t be Alpha forever. Just because she was friends with Death didn’t mean she would have immunity for ever. For all the horrors she had committed, perhaps she could do something kind.
There was a reason why she wanted Jakuta to find the boy and she was pleased that he obeyed her word. Even though her were weak her nose was still powerful. She moved beside her daughter, her gate wasn’t as fluid in her younger years, but oh she still had that power that naturally oozed out of her. Her nose caught that familiar scent and she led them over. There was more grey around her eyes, and along her muzzle. She was aging as gracefully as she possibly could. She told Nevermore what she was to do and she was pleased that Nevermore agreed. Her jaw parted as her cold voice slipped out, though it was soft, it was very strong.
“As Nevermore stated, Welcome back to Asteraia Halcyon. I am sure you are wondering why I wished to have you here. You lived here while you were healing, and you witnessed that wolves, that could be cannibals, and wolves that weren’t, could coexist and live together peacefully. Nevermore, would like to do some travel, but she knows her responsibilities lie here. I suggested that you deserved that chance to take back your rightful place back in Asteraia, to be the leader your parents barely got the chance to be.”
Sapphire eyes, with purple specks, stared down upon the young wolf, her eyes borrowing into his own. She was absolutely serious and she was pausing to give him the moment a chance to grasp it all in. Her scarred face remained emotionless as she continued on, giving him a stipulation.
“You can have your home again, but you must recognize this was our home too. Not just mine, or Tobias, or my children, but all the wolves, even the cannibals. They are my family. I love them, I care for them deeply, and I want to make sure they will continue to have a home here. Is this something you can do Halcyon?”
She goes quiet. Sitting there eerily still, barely breathing. She stares him down, waiting, waiting ever so patiently. Better answer, the Monster is waiting.
