Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The dark girl stood in the middle of the high rock area of the river. The water rushed through her feet, the flow was fast, yes, but it was not deep enough to take the girl under with it. She was too built for that nonsense. Dusk began to change the sky above her. Darkening the sky inch by inch. She was not afraid. She had dealt with much worse than mere dusk. Yes, she’d heard the rumors about the beasts that moved within the lands at night, but it was not yet dark. And by the time twilight hit she would have found herself safe..somewhere. Onyx body moved in the water slightly, her paw reaching to slap at a fish that was a little to close for comfort. She was not partial to them. They were slimy and just plain gross. But she loved the water, so she dealt with them.

The sky drew darker, only to be bright as day when a freak bolt of lightning struck. Her eyes followed it. Watching the wild creatures scurry as the freak storm began. She moved easily to the edge of the river. She sat, her eyes watching the sky light up over and over, hearing the growl of the thunder as it rumbled. The sky went nuts above her head. She missed her dad. Damn how she missed him. They loved storms. She loved her dad dearly. He had gone off to do something, she didn’t know what though, to be honest. She missed her whole family. Momma was gone, long gone. She had a half sister somewhere..But she hadn’t seen her in ages.

Instead here she was at the river. All alone when the storm raged. And boy, did it. The rain came down then. Her onyx body getting even darker as the storm raged. And dusk was growing darker and darker.
