The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

MEN SHOULD KEEP THEIR WORD,

The brute was surprised to hear the Halina would be leaving, but he wasn’t mad. He knew that Abendrot had changed since Kershov had left and that many would not like it and leave. He would be lying to himself if he said that the pack was the same without the previous alpha, but it was his pack. That was all he needed. Halina had been unhappy with the change in alphaship when Grey Wind initially took over, but after time she adjusted to it and didn’t seem to hate it. But now she was leaving to go explore the world with her mate. Grey Wind was not surprised to hear that Halina would not be making decisions for Lupin or Ambrosia, but would let them decide while still being in their lives. He would have to seek the two younger vargs out and find out their intentions. He hoped they would stay, knowing that Abendrot could use more numbers in their pack, but also wouldn’t stop them from going with Halina and Ygritte if that’s what they chose.

“You never need to question any reason to contact me. If you think you need me, then you probably do and whatever it is, it is bound to be an adventure. We will come, Ygritte and I.” The brute knew that the female meant it, she wouldn’t say it if she didn’t. ”Thank you Halina, myself and Abendrot appreciate your continued service.” Grey Wind frowned when Halina changed the conversation to a more personal level. “You don’t know. You don’t know? Really, Grey Wind? I never thought of you as stupid, but this will make me question my thoughts of you. At any rate, I will get to the bottom of this when I see her soon.” The brute stared at her, knowing that many alphas would not allow another to talk to them that way, but Halina had always been one to push boundaries. Besides, he would handle the Macaria situation soon and didn’t need Halina to figure it out for him.

Marx then joined the group, and Halina, being Halina, greeted him in her own way. “Marx, darling, I had not realized that you had returned. Your loyalty to the pack runs deep, doesn’t it? Though… perhaps not to the pack’s master?” This time Grey Wind didn’t appreciate her words as much. He knew they were more to him than to Marx when Halina’s orbs stared at him. The brute met her gaze, not intimidated by her confident being. ”Marx has always shown that his loyalty was to Abendrot and Kershov, not just to our previous alpha.” The brute knew that Marx was more than capable of speaking for himself, but he also was not going to let Halina feel like she was the one in charge here, even if that may be what she wished the situation was. It is your explanation, yes? You belong to this land just as the land belongs you. It belongs to me and Grey Wind and Kershov. It takes a certain kind of wolf to live here, and for those certain few once you belong, you never stop. So you see, Grey Wind, I won’t really be leaving. I’ll always return… eventually.” The female was always one to talk, where Grey Wind was more the quiet type, but her words were true. Abendrot would always have a spot for those that never fit in other packs and not all would survive here. Marx, Halina, and Grey Wind had all thrived in this pack, and it would always be there as a home to them.

Despite Abendrot’s reputation, Grey Wind was not a heartless varg and he was nicer to his niece than he would have been to others when she came to him for help, but it seemed that Halina didn’t like his approach. “Halina, doll, and though I have plans for a trip in the near future for now I’m the Beta of the pack. It is intriguing indeed that were apparently ignorant enough to wrong us… Abendrotians in the first place, and now you ask for help. Interesting and intriguing indeed. Now answer your uncle, doll… what gargantuan problem do you have that warrants our help, and what can we receive in return?” The brute stepped forward, a growl in his throat as he did so. He had already spoken to Nzignha, Halina did not need to do this for him. ”Halina.” His yellow orbs stayed on Nzingha though, waiting to hear what it was that she needed from him, and to see whether Abendrot would be involved or if it would stay a family affair.
