News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

moonfeather

She took it as a good sign that he was able to speak coherent sentences, but she noticed the slight hiccups in the focus of his gaze. Baird's grin and words both comforted and worried Moonfeather as she loped along the creek's banks in search of somewhere to move him to. All of her knowledge and intuition of the healing arts categorically rushed through her mind, while she also kept an eye out for something suitable. When she found the den she quickly about faced and loped back to him, mindful of her footing and conserving energy. Scooping up the elk stomach, she spoke around it, her words only slightly muffled as she told him her plan. Moonfeather used her words to distract him from the concern that bubbled up within her. When his eyes had locked on hers, the vibrant orange holding her fast for a moment, she had noticed how dilated his pupils were. Not to mention how his body had begun to convulse with shivers. She knew that meant his body was working hard to warm itself, but that didn't mean hypothermia hadn't begun to set it. Still, it was if the shivering stopped that she would really have to worry.

Grateful that he was able to lift himself up to stand, Moonfeather was ready to shoulder his weight as he leaned against her. Luckily, they were pretty evenly matched in size, which made things a bit easier. Together they slowly took the first step, her turquoise eyes turning to look him over and ensure he didn't try to put undue stress on the injured limb. Satisfied that he would truly allow her to help him, she focused on setting an easy, even pace that would help them get to the den in a reasonable amount of time but not risk worsening Baird's injuries. When he offered to carry her supply bag, she grinned around it; though the situation was serious, she couldn't help but be slightly amused by the wording of his offer. Nodding her head, she acquiesced and passed the elk's stomach and its precious contents to him. "Sure," she said, a small smile lingering on her features.

Steadily they moved forward, and Moonfeather was sure to keep track of his symptoms as they went. The shivering did not stop, only lessening slightly because the movement of their bodies - and closeness between them - aided in heating his body to a certain degree. She brought up Sila as a distraction, but his reaction immediately made her wish she hadn't. As he recoiled, her eyes went wide for the briefest of moments before she quickly readjusted to support him. She nearly reprimanded him with an exclamation of 'careful!' but then the warm, pleading tones of his voice and charming smile (a side-effect of what must be a concussion? she wasn't sure) stayed her tongue and she merely grinned back at him. "Your secret is safe with me. But I suppose we will have to come up with a good cover story to explain these bumps and bruises." In the back of her mind she knew that if Niviaq asked her about what had happened she couldn't tell a lie, and she would even feel bad telling a fib to Sila, but something about the way his bright orange eyes pleaded with her made her quick to agree.

The going was slow, but luckily the den wasn't too far around the bend in the creek, and they reached its mouth before too much time had passed. Helping him inside was a bit cumbersome, as the entrance was a bit small for them to pass side by side, forcing them closer together. But once they were inside she helped him lay down amongst the remnants of whoever had last lived in this day. She then graciously took the elk's stomach back from him. She nosed through the parcel, considering her options. After a short while of studying her available supplies and thinking things over, she decided she didn't want to give him anything for pain until she got a better idea of how severe his head injury was. She then turned and left the den again. Returning after only a few moments, she now had a large ball of snow held gently in her jaws. With her nose, she motioned towards the most swollen limb, then lowered her head to carefully form a compact around it with the snow. Satisfied that it would help for the time being, sat down and faced him.

"One of the benefits of hurting yourself in the winter - readymade icepacks." She smiled, intent on keeping matters light, like Niviaq had taught her. "Is it okay if I help you clean your wounds?" Some wolves weren't receptive to the touch of another, even a healer, especially in such intimate locations as the face. "We need to get you warmed up first, but your wounds need to be cleaned before I can really treat them. I'd like to put some snow on that bump on your head too, but not until your body is warmed up." Standing once more, Moonfeather knew she needed to give as much of her bodily warmth to him as possible. She shifted back and forth from paw to paw for a moment, suddenly feeling a bit bashful. The young girl hadn't really considered the implications of such a thing - she needed to (for all intents and purposes) cuddle with a relative stranger. But she was a healer. This was not intimate, it was a matter of making sure his condition didn't get any worse. Lowering her gaze for a fleeting moment, she steeled the sheepish expression from her face and looked back to him. "May I?" She asked, indicating that she wished to lay down with him, close to him.
