He let her go when she pulled away, his jaws releasing to leave her only with a few small scrapes where he had held her. His violet eyes narrowed slightly as she appeared to compose herself only slightly, but Jaeger knew that this was far from over. He could feel her, after all, he could feel the desire that had built inside of her. He let out a low, steady growl as she spoke, his fur bristling and his tail raised high above his back like a banner. The male was not sure where this sudden dominance had come from. Perhaps it was from the bond that had been formed between them, perhaps it was from his inclination to no longer let others dictate the course of his life. She stepped forward and he raised his head, meeting her gaze with a fiery resistance suddenly present in his violet eyes.
"You will not." Jaeger said, his voice gruff still with a hint of a low and guttural growl. "You are wrong in assuming you will kill me. I am strong, stronger than you." It was, perhaps, a very lofty assertion. He was built to be strong but training had only done so much thus far, he was not weak, but he was clumsy and inexperienced. But he had beaten her once, hadn't he? And he was only going to get better, stronger. There was something strange coursing through his veins, something darker than he had ever felt. His mind was malleable, had their bond damaged it further? Jaeger felt a keen longing for Semele all of the sudden, wishing that he was staring at her instead. But she had gone and he had not felt her presence for a long time now.
He leaned towards her slightly. "You are not the first who has wanted me dead. And you will not be the last, I am sure. But I am the son of a warrior and an assassin, the King and Queen of Diveen, and my parents will find you should you even attempt to hurt me." The words made him feel so powerful, as if he was towering high above her, as if he all the control in the world. It was a good feeling, far better than feeling scared of everything around him. Perhaps she had given him that confidence, maybe it had been building during his recovery, but it was coming to a head now.
"The mark on my chest is a badge of honor, it is my heritage... it is not an invitation. If you want my heart you will have to wait until I am old and grey and die peacefully in my sleep. I will die at no one's fangs. Especially not yours." His body stood poised to respond should she take his words as a challenge. Jaeger did not feel fear, not now. There was only white-hot anger.
