Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Now the dark begins to rise

The scene that played before him was strange and comical. The trembling wolf, who's voice had sounded slightly feminine a moment ago, now grew deeper with a strange accent Matthias had never heard before. At once, his guard went up as the display continued. Ears held forward and eyes narrowed, the older male tried to understand what was happening to the strange wolf. All he saw was a single boy changing his voice repeatedly as if talking to more than one... oh no. Rolling his eyes, Matthias clicked his tongue in annoyance. What was it with the wolves living here? First was that absurd female who had the craziest eyes and now this brute. Did Moladion turn wolves insane?

The moment the stranger mentioned killing Matthias in his sleep, a deep growl rumbled in his throat. "Watch yourself, boy," he warned, allowing the fur along the nape of his neck to slowly rise. Young wolves these days didn't know how to talk to their elders. Then, in a blink of an eye, the stranger seemed to change once again and a more mature sounding voice crept into his throat. Eyeing him suspiciously, Matthias decided to play along for the time being.

So he was also new to Moladion. This might make things a little easier. With a flick of his tail, the older wolf sat on his haunches as a sign that he wouldn't attack as long as the other kept his distance. "You can relax, I'm not some kind of mob boss that orders his lackeys around. I'm just a humble mercenary looking for payment for my services. I'm not as young as I once was and hunting has become a... tedious process for me. Simply catch me something to eat later and I'll guide you to where you want to go."

The deal was placed on the table and Matthias waited to see what the other would do. A thought came to him and he once again narrowed his eyes. "Don't take my age as a weakness either, kid. I may not be able to hunt as well as I used to, but I could still put a whelp like you down if you even think about attacking me." Matthias didn't make a habit of making empty threats. He wasn't afraid to admit his age and his faults. It only made his strengths shine brighter.
