Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

The Goddess seemed to be a bit worried that Ceres had shown up here instead of Orifel. Her ears fell slightly when she finished her message and didn't get the praise she felt that she deserved, confidence not quite shattered but perhaps a little bit cracked. The girl was worried that she hadn't done a good job, that the information hadn't been as important as she had thought, that maybe Orifel had been doing all the important things and she had just been brought along to appease her. Was that what she was seen as? A whiny child? Her eyes started to burn, and her chest felt tight- had she failed? All Ceres had wanted to do was prove herself, prove that she could accomplish whatever she wished despite her age, and she felt as though she had but... perhaps not.

"Moteuh? Zeltzin's daughter? No, I don't." Her voice was perhaps a bit terse, though there was a hint of hurt pride in there. She shifted slightly on her paws, suddenly feeling awkward with Zelda's eyes upon her. Maybe she was too young. "What happened to her?" The tone of Zelda's voice suggested that it was something bad, but at the present moment Ceres was rather distracted by her racing thoughts of failure and shortcomings.

Zelda's next words, however, caused her to perk up. It wasn't glowing praise, but it was at least better than what she had just been thinking of. Certainly the alphess wasn't lying to her- and although Orifel was included in the 'excellent work' part of the statement, surely the information she had provided was just as good? Ceres wanted the validation, but she wasn't about to be so direct as to ask for confirmation. She would just have to be better, make it so no one would doubt her abilities, would be worried or concerned for her safety. Maybe she just hadn't proven herself yet. The girl let out a breath, her white eyes regaining a bit of their playful gleam, a cocky half-smile making its way back onto her maw.

"I enjoy the challenge." Ceres said with a slight roll of her shoulders. "My mom taught me a lot about spying and sneaking and subterfuge. Even if Orifel had told me to get lost, I still would have followed him." There was humor in her tones, but she wasn't really kidding. It would have been far more dangerous for them both had Orifel not allowed her to come. "Sitting on my paws while all this was going on was drivin' me crazy. I just wanted to do... something, anything, to prove that I could help."
