Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

If she had faith in herself it was only because the wolves around her gave her it. She was unsure with every step, but always wolves like Hyrule, Alexander, Eloah, Astraea, her grandfather, uncle Amoxtli, and Mother believed in her her choices. Really this wasn’t easy, it was far from. She wondered how wolves who ruled were so confident in her choices. Perhaps she was still just new at this, untried in everything she did so each thing was new to her. Even a puppy was unsteady when taking its first steps, saying its first words. They had to learn to do those things and she had to learn to be a leader without the crutch of Hyrule at her side. Fighting even was something she had to learn, all leaders had their trials someday, even the kindest and gentlest like her Grandfather. Thankfully she had just the wolf here teaching her how to fight now, and even that was clumsy… but she was getting better with each lesson from Tithe, and she rewarded him with the rank of Power for his patience with his new leader and for protecting Teza recently from one of those mad beasts out at night.

She was doing what she could to make sure she could protect and serve Taviora properly as its new Guardian. It was just taking time, not many could simply fall in the shoes of leader like Hyrule, she knew that when she first asked him to be leader and Taviora sprung to life after Amoxtli was poisoned that just some wolves had that innate ability to lead. Zelda didn’t think she had that, but she had enough time beside Hyrule and now with everyone else that she thought she was slowly but surely getting there, to be the Goddess Taviora deserved. She was surprised though when Dexter seemed to agree with her without any reaction at all. It seemed she and her uncle might be of the same mind, at least in this instance. She wasn’t sure she had vague memories of his personality and he was always quiet compared to her mother. Still it brought a smile to her maw, she knew others thought she did the right thing too, it was just strange perhaps to see that reaction come so easily to someone sired by her grandfather.

He praised her further by saying she went with her instincts, and she did somewhat. If Dexter had never met Aranck know he wouldn’t ever fully know the monster that she met. How he so easily dismissed the death of her sister, how he denied any wrongdoing then said she would do the same. What type of creature thought like that? She could almost understand Tobias in comparison to that male. Though she didn’t want others to believe that she acted out on Aranck due to his one transgression… just because you did one bad thing didn’t mean you were bad. Aranck though… he was not someone she could let continue to cast the world in his shadow.

She perked though when he said in reply. It was similar to how she spoke, thought, about many things. She wondered then if he could feel it too. Just feel when a wolf was ‘bad’ and not right for the world. Did he too see the dark clouds floating over them? Did he feel the immense good that came from those like her grandfather? She thought maybe she should ask but there were more pressing matters than wondering if he could see these imaginary things or feelings. Instead she wanted to launch to the matter of why she really wanted to meet him and explain to him what was going on.

He seemed to latch to her every word. It was testament perhaps to how much he wanted to do this. He wanted so strongly to see that the situation, what was more he seemed to understand why this wasn’t just something they could rush into. She was so anxious on this matter, she wanted to help but really, this was probably best handled with a small party. She wasn’t sure if she could confront Eden with this matter like she had with Aranck. It was delicate and she didn’t think sending a giant party like she had done with Aranck was the right way to handle things with him. For a start she didn’t worry about him hurting anyone. She didn’t know why she trusted him in that, but he seemed far more reasonable about things than Aranck had been. At the very least he could be reasoned with for a start. She trusted Alistair with the help of Dexter would be able to solve this. And he seemed to be happy to do whatever he could to handle the matter discreetly.

She gave a large sigh of relief at his words. ”Thank you so much uncle Dexter, you don’t know how much it means to me to have your help. To know that you feel as I do and we can figure this out together if no one else will.” She rushed to give her uncle a hug snuggling into him extra good before stepping back and giving a few waves of her tail. Her youth, and perhaps a bit of her immaturity were showing through but she was a young wolf, and Dexter was family and she was so overjoyed to know he understood her every reason for wanting things done this way. She just hoped they wouldn’t get into to much trouble themselves, but the two wolves she was certain would be fine.

”Just let me know if you or Alistair need anymore help. I am just a call away if anything comes up and I will do my best to help. I know you will do whatever you can and I know you will do your best… whatever comes to be, I won’t be angry. It will be what it will be. Eden, if he is hiding something from us, brought this upon himself the moment he chose not to just approach us about it.” She said giving a few reassuring nods though it was more like she was reassuring herself and that these choices were right rather than confidently believing it. ”Thank you.” She said one last time knowing that as eager as he was he wasn’t likely to be around much longer.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
