aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The female was not surprised that there was another pack meeting being held. Kalgalath had always been prompt about pack life and he made sure they did not go too long without gathering as a group to catch up on pack news. Chenzii was close to the brute though, and she usually saw him between meetings to hang out and catch up on their personal lives. But it had been a while since she had had time with her friend, and she was looking forward to seeing him. The beta was the first to arrive, and she smiled warmly to her friend. Kalagalth came down to her level to greet her, and the pair said hello like the old friends they were. “Chenzii, it is also good to see you. You have been absent as of late and I have missed our conversations, but I suppose we all had to hide from the harsh summer this year - the worst that I think we have had thus far!” She smiled to her friend, knowing that he didn’t mean it badly that she had not been around lately. ”Yes, the drought was bad. We will have to find some time to catch up soon!?” Rift was the next to arrive, staying quietly to herself as she often did, but the femme gave her packmate a warm smile if she decided she wanted to chat at all. Chenzii’s audette’s perked as she heard her name, “Hello Chenzii, it’s good to see you.” The alphess was padding forward, and the midnight colored femme stood, plume wagging behind her in greeting. ”Hello Sebring, I hope you’ve been well.” She smiled to her friend, rubbing her pelt in greeting against the other. The next to join the group was Khaleesi. She greeted the vargs present, but seemed distracted, looking towards the tree line. Perhaps she was waiting for her mother to arrive.

More and more vargs arrived to answer the call of their alpha. Vladimir came next, but he seemed unhappy. He gave Chenzii and Khaleesi a quick smile before going between his parents, seeming to be upset by something, but it was not her business. The next to join was one she did not recognize, and she made sure to keep an extra eye on the stranger. Pack meetings were always open to newcomers, but she was still skeptical when she saw one come in at first. The male was by the side of Seraphina, one of the pack’s friends who was welcome as if she was a true member of Aurora. Normally she was inseparable from Vladimir and Castiel, so Chenzii wondered why she was with this stranger. But the more she looked the more she put together, guessing that this might be a friend from her home pack. But the may did not say anything, no greeting to the alpha and alphess and no explanation for his presence, so Chenzii remained on alert. She noticed that Kal was suspicious as well, but he too did not question the silent brute. Jorah then came to the group, padding over to greet her. “I have not seen you much these past months, how have you been, Chenzii?” The femme smiled at the male. They had not have much interaction and when they did she had been rude to him, so she was glad that he did not let that leave a lasting impression. ”Hello Jorah. I have been well, not much going on lately. What of yourself?”

Hellene and Castiel were the last vargs to join them and then Kalgalath began the meeting. She had no idea that she could feel so hurt by her best friend, but the words that came out of Kal’s mouth did just that. He was leaving. She never thought that it was a possibility for him to leave this pack, and so she thought she would always have a friend here. She had another friend that she was just as close to, Magic, but she too had left. And then one of her pups had died, and her son left. She finally found someone else she had found some feelings for, and he was no where to be seen. Was she meant to just be alone then? Without a friend in Aurora? Or did she follow Kal and go with him? Or start over here, staying loyal to the pack and to Aindreas? It was too much for her to take in and she had too many emotions flowing through her to make a real decision. But the thought of leaving this pack seemed like the worst decision. How could she leave Aurora? It had been her home for so long, and she feared if she left then she would hate wherever she went. And Aindreas would need help settling into the pack. Even though he was family to Kal, he had not lived here permanently. He was more than capable of leading a pack, but maybe if Chenzii offered to help him with whatever he needed, it would be enough to distract her from losing her best friend. But it still felt like she was being personally left by a friend event though Kal was just doing his duty to his family. Couldn’t he have given her some warning before now? Finally she turned her yellow eyes to his bright blue ones, not hiding the hurt and pain that she felt from his words, ”I will not leave Aurora.” She quickly looked away, not wanting to let her emotions get to her in front of the entire pack.
