Belhara’s neutral and distance intonation caught Kahina’s attention. The vibrant and brilliant eyes of her possible new teacher were interesting. She figured this woman might be worth her time. She would at least be worth the moments that would have otherwise been spent wandering aimlessly around the pack land, or the abandoned den. Head held high, the pup settled herself to listen to Belhara. She looked up at the adult with her own brilliant golden eyes, white flecks gleaming in the light. Kahina. she answered smoothly in a voice that could one day become haughty if not corrected.

Her dark ears flattened against her neck at the approach of others. Particularly her brother. Throughout their lives various members of their family had not endeared themselves to each other. These two were clearly no exception to the trend. White teeth bared and claws tracked in the dirt. What little they had been given during their developing life had been hard won between them and their half siblings. She had seen the easy love between her half-siblings. Zephyr and Aakil’s trust and love was a story for legend. Kahina had seen it and felt a surge of envy. They had stayed together, their mother had not abandoned them at birth, their brother was not defected. Her’s was different.

It had never occurred to the girl that she could have been part of their siblingship. Simply that she had been apart of them. They were the same, but different. No, she was stuck with….

Bonehead. The name Malleah had called him hissed from her fangs with disdain. She rolled her eyes at herself and the wolves around her. ’Boneskull’, but Malleah- never ‘mother’ -called him Bone Head. Kahina was honestly surprised her brother had been able to get that amount to the other wolves. He had always been one of the slowest amongst them all. Even compared to the runts. It seemed like he was doing well for himself now, though. She mused, eyeing his bloated tummy.

She looked back up at Belhara, her gaze hardening instantly. No one had asked for her opinion about anything, it immediately had her thinking ‘trap.’ If anything, Aranck had said, “Don’t you think?” rhetorically before biting or attacking whomever he was speaking to. Stars….? She responded hesitantly, uncertain of what the outcome of this one word would be.
