Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Dexter
male.10 years old.35in, 145#.born to MothxCoszcotl.sibling to Amoxtli&Zeltzin.

unable to bind.mated to none.father to none.Taviora

He didn't know a lot of wolves in Taviora now that he'd taken some time away but he was willing to learn about all of them in due time. At least through his connection with Zelda, he would get her input on most if not all of the wolves to know who she trusts and who she knows the most about. Alistair was spoken highly of and that meant a lot to Dexter. He may not be as familiar with Zelda as he is with other members of his family but he wanted to change that. Alistair was a hard to read kind of wolf but that didn't make him any less trustworthy in Dexter's opinion. He wanted to explain his own thoughts on the matter as carefully as possible so Alistair would see that though he had personal motives in this quest, he was to be trusted as well. He couldn't be totally unbiased in his opinions once they found out more information but he could be trusted not to let his emotions get the best of him. He knew better than to be hasty with any decisions when it came to packs and alliances. Eden would not be an easy ally to lose if it came down to that so he wouldn't dare to make a decision like that. That would ultimately be Zelda's choice and he wanted to keep her updated throughout their trek, sure that Alistair would agree. Alistair made a noise that could only be agreement when he mentioned the information being brought forward and Dexter could see that he wasn't against anything he said so far. It seemed they were pretty much along the same wavelength in this and that was a good way to be for two wolves teaming up for the same objectives.

He was sure they both had skills they could bring to the table in this. He was a hunter and a killer but he was also a thinker. He put deep thought into every killer he chose to victimize and he always wanted to know how they thought, what drove them, before their downfall. I guess you could say he knew a little bit about psychology from all the hunts. He knew it was never so black and white why someone decided to go on a killing spree. Usually something would trigger it and it would go from there or they would carefully calculate each kill. Nothing was ever random. Some might lose their minds and have no true connection to their victims but even then there was a pattern. They chose the weak ones because it was little to no risk at retaliation or no one would miss them. Maybe it reminded them of someone they once knew that they felt was weak too. Maybe it was someone that wouldn't be missed. Somehow, someway, it had some motivation behind it. He could see the surprise in Alistair's eyes when he told him his relation to Amoxtli but then he could almost see the wheels turning in Alistair's head. He must be calculating all the different outcomes that could come of this information but in the end, Dexter didn't see too much protest against them going forward with the plan. Seems he was trusting Dexter to do his part no matter his personal attachment and that's exactly what he would do.

He did feel indebted to Alistair for all that he had found. Otherwise Dexter would have had to get Amoxtli to take him to the site of the carcass which was of course long gone and try to sniff out some clue. It would be long and tedious and he might have hit a dead end right there. But Alistair had gotten a lead and gone with it and given Dexter a good lead, something he might have never gotten. Now they had a chance to bring his brother justice and he was forever grateful. He listened carefully as Alistair spoke of securing an alliance and a wolf called Solaris. It seemed Alistair wasn't quite sure what to think of Solaris and that hit a nerve with Dexter. He trusted Alistair already enough to trust his judgement about other wolves. If this wolf didn't quite set right with him, there was probably a good reason why. He nodded.

"Is this Solaris wolf still around? He might be worth talking to."

He wondered what Alistair would think of that. It seems they had a connection already so perhaps he would just let Alistair seek him out and then just get back to him if he found out anything. He nodded in agreement when Alistair said that Eden would probably have a good story by now. He let out his breath in a soft sigh.

"Yes, he probably does have alibis and everything by now and we would have no way to dispute any of it, this long after."

It sucked but they would have to work around it. He also understood what Alistair meant when he said that Eden might seek to use his own connection to Amoxtli as a face if they didn't have sufficient evidence before they brought it forward.

"Agreed. I won't let him question the investigation or Zelda's judgement by putting me on this case with you. We will get enough evidence so that there is no doubt before it comes into the open."

He nodded again when Alistair said that Eden was a powerful enemy. Yes, it would seem that Eden has made quite the name for himself in Moladian and he's not a weakling by any means. It would be better to go about this quietly so they would do that as long as they could. His ears pricked toward Alistair, eyes bright and responsive.

"So, where do you want to start first? This was your hunch so your lead is my command."

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
