Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die . . .

He stared up at the woman as she approached, brow furrowed as his laughter ceased. Her words stained his face with confusion. Cannibal? She thought him a monster? Alhazred cleared his throat and rolled himself onto his paws, bracing himself against the dirt and shaking the leaves and twigs out of his perpetually windblown pelt. He might have been a bit mentally incapacitated, but he certainly would never go so far as to eat another of his kind. Well, perhaps... NO. That was a terrible train of thought. It was better to pretend that there was no situation in which he would eat a wolf, lest his brain mutate that thought. Sooner or later, in that case, he WOULD be a cannibal, and the woman in front of him would be right.

"No, no, you misunderstand Alhazred." The male muttered, his tail swishing in a rather agitated manner. He couldn't have her going around, spreading rumors and such when he had only just arrived. There was work to be done, things to find out about this land and if everyone thought he was a cannibal... well... they probably wouldn't wish to speak with him. "You see, biting is so... harsh. It's a harsh movement, of the jaw, you see?" He demonstrated with a swift snap of his jaws in the air, yellow eyes wide and gleaming as he tried to explain. "Chewing, it's... well, it's..." Alhazred stifled a giggle. "Nicer. You see, Alhazred likes to chew, but he does not like to bite. He certainly does not want to bite you." He tilted his head slightly and padded a few steps closer to her.

His gait was stilted and awkward, but there was an almost ephemeral quality to it, as if he was half inside this world and half out. The piercing yellow gaze he possessed seemed completely insane, but were one to look more closely, inside the sunshine depths they would see an intellect and a ragged charm not many could match. Rarely, however, did one look closely. Alhazred was largely harmless in comparison to most others who had lost their minds, he, at least, still had a tentative grasp on morality. The male flashed her a grin. "Alhazred wants to know why you assumed he was a cannibal. Do they live here? I came here hoping to find answers but perhaps I should not, if I am only going to get eaten."

Alhazred wondered why anyone would live in a place rife with cannibals. Let them eat their own kind and eventually starve themselves out. He had little time, little respect for those who would hurt others unnecessarily. What lay beyond the veil was troubling enough, the mortal world should be left a safe enough place. He continued to look at the female, head tilted to the side and face seeming almost troubled by his inquiry.
