The feel of him was a comfort as he pressed his shoulder into her own though it did little to help the way her heart raced in her chest. She wondered why, they had touched many times before this but everything about today felt different for some reason, as if afterwards things might not be the same as they had been before. She pushes her weight back into him for a moment as her tail twitches in a mixture of excitement and anticipation at what might lay before them. His words only entice her desire to enter the dark cave, stoking the fire of adventure that burned so brightly when they were together. Without a second thought she trailed behind him slightly as they walked into the darkness before them.
Within the stone walls the world outside seemed to vanish, as darkness consumes them and cut off all sound, even their padded footfalls muffled somehow. She stuck as close to Rhaegal as she could in the narrow corridor, her nose or shoulder sometimes touching his flank as they moved both on purpose and not.
After they had slunk deeper inside the beast’s home it became apparent that whatever beast dwelled here was not going to materialize from the obscurity of the cave and swallow them whole, though the few bones scattered about made it clear what it as capable of. So instead of allowing their excitement to die she silently fell back from Rhaegal hoping he would be so caught up in the investigation so as not to notice and tiptoed back until she could not see his light gray form in the darkness. Once she thought he would not be see her either she reached up and scrapped her claws against the hard rock, an eerie tattoo in the echoing walls before letting out a low, grumbling growl that was her best impersonation of a bear. If there was no excitement to be had she might as well create some!
