Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

His feelings for Tuari is what made it so hard to tell her about Talien. He knew she was hurting and he couldn't do anything about it. He was causing her pain and it killed him because she meant so much to him. Usually he could take anything. He tortured the minds of killers for a living before he dismantled them piece by piece and scattered their limbs throughout the lands for a living but this was different. Tuari was his best friend and confidante, his other half, and he hated seeing the tears in her eyes and knowing he put them there. He didn't know if he ever forgive himself for making her feel like this. He had never seen her angry like this but he knew somehow that he deserved it. Why shouldn't she be angry? He must have been leading her on, giving her hope somehow that there was more. He was oblivious to it until now so it made sense that he must have been doing it without thinking about it. He was a little fearful as he looked up at her, but not for his own life. He could care less if she chose to tear out his throat right now because he would die telling her that it was okay, that he deserved it. He was a monster, after all.

No, he was fearful because he knew what it would do to her if she did something bad to him. She would never forgive herself. It would weigh on her the rest of her life and he didn't want that for her. She was not a monster like him. She was a hunter of prey animals, not of wolves. He stared up at her in wonder. She was such a strong female and she didn't give herself enough credit. It seemed she wanted his attention so that's exactly what he gave her. He knew he was definitely big enough to get her off of him if he really wanted to but that was the furthest thing from his mind. He would never try to hurt her like that. She told him to stop running and he wouldn't anymore. He didn't want her to cry. He only whimpered more at the sight because it broke his own heart to see her like that. She just looked so exhausted now. She seemed to be rather gifted at this whole lip syncing thing and it did make it easy to understand her. He was always watching others' expressions anyway so it was easy to watch hers and read her lips.

He had acted on impulse when he ran just like she did when she chose to chase him but he admired her all the same. He didn't blame her one bit for waht she felt. She couldn't help that just like he couldn't. Maybe he shouldn't have asked about kids and family and stuff. Maybe she read too much into it but it was his fault for not setting the record straight before. The thing was that he didn't even know what the record was himself. He knew that he cared about Tuari more than anything and that he also cared about Talien. He knew that he wanted them both in a his life more than anything. Though it seemed at this stage that hoping that they get along in his life would be a whole other story. She sat off hunched over like she felt bad about what she did or something but he didn't want that either. She did nothing wrong in his opinion. He hated seeing her cry. Even as she pawed at her eyes, he whimpered, wanting to go to her, to lick her tears away and hug her or something, comfort her in some way. But right now he wasn't sure if she wanted to be touched, least of all by him.

He didn't want to make things worse so he stayed where he was and shifted his weight, his eyes watching her intensely, his brows furrowed in concern. She seemed so frustated with herself and probably was think that she could have said something if she could talk but he didn't think twice about her being mute. It was just a part of who she was and always has been. He loved every part of her and didn't think of it as a handicap. It only made her more unique in his opinion. She kept shaking her head when he blamed himself and he couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head too.

"Seems we're at an empasse then. It's your fault and it's my fault. We'll never agree. Agree to disagree? I just don't want to fight with you, Tuari. I don't want to see you like this. Please, tell me what I can do."

He whimpered again softly, his ears flat back and his tail tucked a little. She wouldn't even look at him at this point and he hated that more than anything. Did she hate him now and couldn't even look at him? She brought her paw to her chest, once more blaming herself and he snorted, shaking his head.

"No, I won't have that. Agree to disagree."

It was the only thing he would back down on, only if she agreed to drop it for the most part cause he couldn't have her blaming herself and apparently she couldn't have him doing it either. As her tail started to swish in the leaves, he took it as a good sign but he didn't like the distant look on her face, like she was trying to bring up a mask or something. He took a daring step toward her, his eyes narrowed slightly.

"Look, I get it if you need your space or whatever but there is one thing I ask. Don't shut me out, please. Don't pretend it never happened and please, please don't avoid me. I can't live without you in my life, Tuari. You've become too much a part of it.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
