Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

male.10 years old.35in, 145#.born to MothxCoszcotl.sibling to Amoxtli&Zeltzin.

unable to bind.mated to none.father to Eztli, Lixue, Petra, Citlalli, & Itzel.Taviora

When her sickness didn't go away, he knew to stay close and since she had told him that day that he was to be a father, he knew that he had responsibilities now and he would be there to honor them. He cared about Tuari more than anything and he wanted to see her happy. He was just sorry that he couldn't promise anything more than an everlasting friendship for now. His emotions were too complicated and compartmentalized. He didn't know how to handle it because he'd never had to. He had pushed away connections for so long that even being a friend was taxing and he had to think about how he acted and whether it was something friend worthy sometimes. He could let hsi dark side get away with him in a heated situation like that day the female wolf attacked Tithe. He almost attacked her. If the other males hadn't been there, he probably would have gone ahead and killed her right there. She had already proven herself a danger to the pack by attacking Tithe unprovoked. There was nothing restraining him emotionally from ripping her limb from limb. But thankfully Zelda had arrived on the scene and brought him back down to reality. He had a pack to protect but he also had morals to keep now. He couldn't just kill as he found necessary anymore. This whole being in a pack thing came with complications of its own.

He had managed fairly well so far but thinking was a large part of living day to day now. He needed to protect Talien and he needed to protect Tuari and their growing family. He needed to be close and yet he wanted to be everywhere. He couldn't make heads or tails of who he wanted to be with and if he even wanted that attachment at all some days. What about his dark passenger? He couldn't just pretend he didn't exist. He was well and alive inside of him and able to come out at any time. He didn't want to hurt anyone, including his unborn children. So far Tuari had been patient with him but he wondered sometimes how long that would last before she cracked and went off on him, asked him to make a choice. He dreaded that day. But thsi day he wouldn't have to think about that because this morning he came back to check on her at the den only to find her pacing and looking restless. He could see the pain she was trying so hard to hide in her pretty features and it worried him to no end. He thought about calling for someone but he didn't want to disturb her either. He wasn't sure how this worked. Was nature supposed to take its course? How would he know when she needed help? What would HE do?

He watched her endlessly stand and sit, stand and sit. It was driving him mad to watch. She looked so scared and he wanted to comfort her but he didn't know how. He whimpered and went to her, brushing himself against her as often as possible, offering her a shoulder to lean on if she needed. He nuzzled her cheek, her shoulder, her side, anything to let her know that he was here and he wasn't going anywhere. When the bleeding started, he freaked out. He was used to blood, but not coming out of THAT end. Soon the whole den smelled of nothing but blood and he was distracted, his very nerves threatening to jump out of his skin. Shen the first child appeared though, his whole world shook to pieces. She was beautiful, an eye catcher for sure. And she was his. He watched Tuari clean her, mesmerized. He leaned in close, touching his nose to her, breathing in her smell, everything about her. She was enchanting. But Tuari didn't clean her for long before she went back to pushing. At first, he was confused. Wasn't there only supposed to be one? He had never seen this happen before.

Tuari was trying to move the first pup but she was shaky and he whimpered. He hated seeing her like this. She looked so weak. Had she already lost too much blood? He swallowed, his eyes as big as saucers. He leaned in to offer to help, grabbing the pup by the scruff to move her as Tuari directed so that she could focus on pushing. What else was there to push? He just didn't understand. This one seemed to take longer and it worried him. When was too long? It felt like forever. This pup cried out when Tuari started cleaning her and he jumped at the sound. Were they supposed to sound like that? His ears pinned to his skull as he looked at Tuari for answers. But she was too busy cleaning the pup so he watched again, trying to pick up hints. Tuari was even more shaky lifting this pup so once more he leaned in to help and do what he could. When he saw her pushing yet again, his eyes bulged and his brows threatened to leap off the top of his head in shock. Was there really more? He wasn't sure he could take any more of this. He could sense Tuari's fear and that didn't help matters. Why was she scared? Was that a bad sign? He whimpered and nuzzled against her face and ears, licking her and trying to encourage her.

Thankfully this time it didn't take so long and it didn't seem to take her as much effort either. The pup was smaller than the rest and he worried again. Wasn't the runt the bad omen? Weren't they least likely to make it? He hovered over the pup, smelling it and making sur eit smelled healthy. All he could smell was the blood though and he wrinkled his nose. He tried to clean it as he saw Tuari do since she looked so weak. He wasn't sure she could do much more so he tried to help out, cleaning her and moving her as the others. He looked over at Tuari when he was done, noting how frustrated she looked and he went to her, licking her face again and pushing his fae against her, reassuring her that all was well. She looked at him and he could tell her breathing took effort now. He needed to call for help. He glanced back over at the children just to make sure they were suckling and looking happy and healthy. All looked well so he nuzzled Tuari once more and whsipered to her to rest before he moved to the entrance of the den and threw his head back, calling out for a healer.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
