The peaceful silence was broken by the youthful bark behind him. Turning, Halcyon watched his nephew approach, bow his head in respect, and smiling pleasantly. Returning the smile, the alpha gazed at the young boy with soft eyes, happy to see his kin growing well. It seemed like only yesterday when Viserys and Ankh brought their children to live amongst the grassy plains. While he had been too busy to get to know each of them personally, he happily watched them from afar from time to time. Fenyang spoke formally, even introducing himself by his sire and dame, causing Halcyon to chuckle quietly. It seemed humorous that those born of Iblis should speak in such a regal way.
Of course, this pup wasn't just descended of Iblis, but of another. There was a sneaker side to Fenyang's blood, which came as no surprise to Halcyon. It made the alpha smile even wider upon hearing the boy's request. "How could I forget one of my nephews? Of course I know you, Fenyang, and I was wondering when one of Vis' kids would come to me for a rank. I am glad to hear you are ready to train. As a thief and spy, no less." he said, sitting on his haunches and tilting his ears forward to give his nephew his full attention. "Your mother and uncle Mugen are the top spy and thief in Asteraia, but they are kin. While I don't feel they would go easy on you, perhaps you would benefit more getting training from someone not related to you."
Halcyon paused a moment to think more on the idea that was coming to mind. Asteraia had many allies and he could easily send Fenyang to any of them for the training he needed. Of course, there was the matter of his parents. Would they approve of their child being sent to a faraway pack to learn how to be a shadow? Thinking back to his own training, he remembered how Athine sent him all over Moladion to become her guard. He had been an orphan, but if Iblis had been alive, Halcyon was sure his father would have accepted his choice to chase down his goal. With that in mind, he returned to the boy and nodded. "If you wish to be like a shadow, then you will learn outside of Asteraia. Pick one of our allies, Taviora, Iromar, or Diveen, and go there. Learn from them, grow from your mistakes, and return to Asteraia with your new skills. Who knows, you may even have the ability to challenge for a rank at that time."
