Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Coza couldn’t fathom the secrets that his son was keeping from him. For his own good or not Coza was completely unaware of any secrets Dexter had from him. He was his sweet son, innocent of all evil and doing what he could for his home. The day that they had been attacked wasn’t the first time they had been by cannibals, he thought nothing of it when Tobias returned with the Monster and the white wolfess. He learned later that apparently Tobias’ child was killed and they were seeking revenge on the killer but the killer never had been found and honestly, if his son had been anything like the creature Tobias was, who stalked Coza from the first moment he set land on Moladion, it might have not been all bad. Of course he mourned for the loss of life but there was no proof of anyone here having done it, and they simply attacked rather than asking for help seeking. While he sympathized for their loss the way they had gone about getting that help made it hard for even Coza to truly wish to do more than he had. Especially after how they had hurt one of Taviora’s own.

So no, Coza saw no avarice, no darkness within his son. His dark passenger was something impossible for the aging aztec to even imagine. The conversation though was on Coza’s known youngest grandchildren though and the males look might have looked a little depressed as Dexter mentioned if they strayed far. ”I is not knowing. Asriel’s scent on borders sometimes, but hasn’t been home since turning two. Shem I is not so certain either, Zeltzin knows more, maybe?” He said worry clearly etched across his visage, yet he wondered if Eden perhaps had gotten to his two grandsons before he could, perhaps they took more after their father, keeping secrets and only letting a few wolves in. That was about as much as Coza knew about Eden anymore to begin with.

He worried for them far more than he did so for himself. His ears twitched slightly and he shifted his body as he felt it grow stiff from standing for so long. He slowly lowered himself to his haunches to get more comfortable and he disliked how tired he felt simply from standing and having a conversation with his son. ”You is right, of course. You’re mother I am sure would say much the same. I will let you know if I is needing anything, but I is not going to join the sky gods just yet, my child.” he explained adding a little chuckle at the end. He was much more interested in the pups that Dexter had been around though.

Being around his grandchildren had been the brightest light of his light, before Moteuh was taken Zeltzin’s last litter had been enjoyable, fun, but once she was gone everything changed and it grew to be a dark matter, one that made him feel more tired than energized. It had been hard after that, trying to explain something that Coza himself couldn’t truly comprehend.

There was a lot that his children didn’t know, just because it wasn’t what he figured to be important. Fathom had been his friend before he had met Moth, but she hadn’t been in his life at all by the time his children had been born. He had told his grandson Cenmatl about her only because he was fairly certain in some way they were related, so the name floated around but the relationship beyond ‘friend’ had never been explained to any of them. There was no real need to after all his life had been far less confusing than Dexter’s apparently was turning too. He felt bad for his son that the gods seemed to toy with him. More than one of them seemingly choosing to answer Coszcotl’s prayers and giving his son more than he could handle. He felt somehow responsible for that, but there was little he could do in the way of helping him other than offering advice.

His son replied saying he would fix it somehow, though he had no idea how to decide. Coza’s ear twitched when Dexter stated that he was cursed to be unable to imprint and Coza wondered if that was true. Amoxtli and Zeltzin though, both chose using their heart’s though, so he did not think it was bad, just that it was much easier for Coza than it was for Dexter now. He knew Zeltzin had an imprint, but beyond that Coza didn’t know much about him, Amoxtli never met his that Coza was aware it could have been possible that, well, perhaps Dexter wasn’t broken he just hasn’t found his yet either. He felt Dexter’s analogy though was probably an accurate one. He seen wolves struggle between one or the other in the past it seemed very difficult and he wasn’t sure how his old friends and packmates dealt with it either. Eventually they managed and he felt most of them chose with the one they had been with first. Which usually ended up being their mate, or lover, of choice. The imprint usually ended up being the interloper in these situations. Coza was just lucky he guessed.

”That is sounding a lot like what conflicts they have. I say it is accurate… my friends, often while torn they were picking their heart, imprint usually was the one they met second, very rare I see them find imprint then later pick mate. In all years if met imprint first they fall in love with imprint, stay with. If they find heart, imprint usually unwanted in such way, but no less conflicting… I knew a few who had such problem in life.” Hush and Sen being the largest ones he thought of in those moments, though he knew of members who also faced such conflicts. He never thought about what if he and Fathom had been more than they were, he guessed he probably would have been with her, Moth after all wanted it of him and he wanted nothing but to please her but she was never out of his mind, and so he chose her. Perhaps if he and Fathom had been more beforehand he too would have picked her.

”I would not be saying she was a someone, but if fate’s deemed Moth and I not met she might have been. Gods wanted your mother and I together though. They gave us one another before I had chance to find someone else. Imprinting was overpowering, I knew where I belonged.” He explained. ”I is sorry my situation was not of more help, Fathom was just a dear friend, who I is thinking could have been more if I had not met your mother when I had. It is not being very much the same at all. I is just… trying to help and understand and I cannot I am sorry.” He says to his son ears falling back slightly.

Though such sadness quickly was lightened when Dexter stated that he could go see the children. His face visibly brightening and tail waving lightly as he explained that either of the mothers wouldn’t mind. ”You be choosing most wonderful names, I very excited to see them all!” He exclaimed happily though a little look of sheepishness crossed his maw when his son said he would help him gather suitble offerings. ”Yes… that is being most welcome… perhaps I will be grabbing Tepiltzin and Tezcacotl too.” He added feeling a little sad that he would not be able to do these things himself, but feeling much happier and warmer despite it all.

”Just be remembering Dexter, that if nothing else, you’re children will always love you as long as you be loving them, you will always be having them. They do not leave you ever.” He assured his son. Touching his muzzle to the side of Dexter’s neck. ”I am sure, somehow, it will work out, sure that understanding will happen.” He said giving his tail a wave.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
