Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

It had begun to bother me more and more that Masque was wandering. It was in her very DNA, a gift from her lovely mother and one I suppose I possessed slightly. Still, I was content to go wherever my mate went and that was far enough for me. My desire to find those parents of mine had dissipated with the loss of my memory and the subsequent time spent as an unknown. I would not risk my family again and it shamed me to no end to know I had been the crux of their trials and tribulations. Even my grumpiness was tempered because I was often realizing how it could negatively impact Masque. She was growing into a beautiful wolfess and I... I was grateful she was mine. It was selfish of me after what I had put them through but a feeling I possessed nonetheless. She often made me crack a smile, a twinkle of mirth in my eyes when I looked away as if unaffected, but she was such a kind spirit it was difficult to resist.

As the sun warms my shoulders and I begin to stand, I feel uneasiness wash over me. More and more of late I have felt a presence hovering, a cloud brimming somewhere in the distance, invisible but oppressive. An inkling of something that I could not fathom and it left me on edge despite the bliss of having Taika back. The sound of movement, however slight, set my teeth together with a sharp clack and a growl to ripple through my chest. Warning whatever intruders to back off. Scars and a bum tail wouldn't stop me from protecting what was mine.

But my daughter would. She leaps from the bushes and I fly up from the ground with a wicked snarl, body like a porcupine with all my hair on end. When I realized it was her from her tinkling laugh and raised butt I immediately drop down to my haunches with a huff and a flick of my ears. "Damnit Masque, I could've hurt you," I said with a growl in my voice but it was clear I was not really upset. Just startled. She begins racing around me and I lean forward to nip at her flying coat and lift a paw to bat at her. "How do you have so much energy?" There is a jest in my voice but also relief. She is home which means she is safe, for now.
