PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

let me be brave

As the night fell over the islands and the stars twinkled overhead, Oswin dozed comfortably, peacefully atop the Peak. A stray late summer breeze picked up every so often and rolled over the flat, empty space and tugged at her hair, running along the curves of her gold and white body. Such a gentle night deserved a sweet slumber, and so Oswin was rewarded with such. She did not dream of her half-brother and his disfigurement. She did not dream of her mother’s anguish at learning Oswin had sought Nephilim out. She dreamed of nothing which could spring worrisome demons in her mind and was instead visited by happy memories of her foalhood days kicking up her hooves in the thick grass of the Prairie.

When she awoke, smelling the sweet thick summer grass and feeling the warm sun on her back of the Prairie, Oswin yawned and blinked, disoriented for a moment while she realized she was at the Peak and not on Luthien. Confusion came again when she realized dawn had not crested over the horizon, but the world was still bathed in white, luminescent light from the moon hung above. She frowned and glanced around her, ears swiveling in an attempt to catch any noise which would tell her why she was awake.

Papa! I – I don’t understand. What did I do wrong?

The words echoed as if they’d chased the breeze that stirred by her again. Oswin’s heart swelled and she looked around more carefully, eyes narrowed. Her senses were on high-alert and it was there she saw him – a gangly colt caught between the stages of maturing and his youthfulness. Immediately, Oswin was moving, her sleep-tired legs stretching as she went. She rumbled a soft nicker to him as she moved, her eyes wide and bright as she came to him.

There were no children on the Peak that Oswin knew of, and his confused state made her want to come to his side immediately and help him. “Are you okay?” She asked in the hush of the night as she was near. She didn’t hear or see any sign of another horse, but the young stallion had called out for his father. Oswin glanced around them before she looked back.

oswin
this is as brave as I know how to be.
I know it’s gonna hurt you, but please… be a little proud of me.
