Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Where did Oberon think he was going? Not somewhere without ME! I am racing at the heels of my father as he leads up towards the fields. "Damn Astrid giving me too much food," he mutters, and I glance up at him in surprise. 'Dad, don't say a bad word!' My words are sharp, bright orange eyes narrowed upon him challengingly. In return, he turns his head so that his yellow eyes focus on me (cause I don't realize one is blind). "Mind your manners, Rippa," he warns, but there is a gentleness to his tone and a turn of his lips that belies his amusement. In response, he earns a tight smile from me, nervousness flicking through my belly at meeting my family. Apparently I have lots of them besides my litter mates and my older siblings, who I hadn't really met yet. I asked my dad why they weren't in the den still and was told that when a wolf becomes an adult they could do what the pleased and that meant moving too. Huh, who would have thought?

Oberon's tail flashes in the distance. I refrain from chasing him down despite the lingering urge to run too, my competitive side often getting the better of me. Where Oberon was chipper and careless, I was meticulous and sometimes sharp. Zaph referred to me as 'Astrid junior' except I had little interest in hunting skills even if I admired my momma fiercely. She was fearless and the best! When I saw my siblings fight I was the one who wanted to leap into it and beat them just like I helped that one girl in the puppy tug-off.

There are a bunch of wolves by the time we arrive and I spy a star-dotted girl at the feet of a blindingly beautiful female. Off goes a black pup and I spy Oberon and another there challenging an older wolf.

Zaphkiel slips past Skyrippa, who has come to a standstill to eyeball each one, and instead he focuses on Tzadkiel first with a sudden smile. His older son was a disappearing act, truly, but Vortigern had also went off for a time to learn about himself and was settled nicely in Spirane now. Astraea was high ranking in Taviora and Asariel was... a lump lodges into his throat. He hadn't seen his elder son in a while and he remembers the way Vortigern had reacted when he told him. Now was not the time for such things.

"Tzadkiel," he says warmly, stepping forward to throw his neck over his sons and press their chests together. "Your mother will wish to see you as well as we have fretted for you," he murmurs with only a slight admonishment in his voice, more happiness laced. Then he turns to his siblings with a grin. "Meryl, Mithos," he says in turn. "Celeste. You look.... a bit worse for the wear." Well, no one had ever said that Zaphkiel had much of a filter, but he was one to talk since he had put on a bit of weight which thickened him up all over. 'Dad!' Rippa hisses, suddenly at his side and glaring at him. "Hello Uncles, Aunt Celeste. You look pretty,' she says, a smile on her face and feeling embaressed by her dad's rude statement.
