The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

I'LL HANG YOU HIGHER THAN BEFORE

i'll leave you lying on death's door

He is ghostlike as he walks through the darkness, his body seeming to fold into the darkness, his eyes a void themselves. Nothing lay in Spirane, not anymore, and though he could not bring himself to leave his sister behind entirely, his paws seemed to wander of their own accord. Janus felt as though he lived separately from his body, perhaps somewhere outside of it- with little memory to connect him to it, the hulking form that was developing seemed as distant as someplace far away from here. Certain things seemed to jog a memory that did not quite exist, scents and sights that he felt he should know but didn't. There was one in particular he often scented around Spirane that seemed familiar enough to bother him, but he could never pin down the wolf it belonged to.

Frustration made him lash out, a snap of the jaw or a growl to warn others away, even his family. It seemed as though wanderlust had taken his adoptive siblings, leaving only him and Aine to warm the den. Janus slipped down one of the many tunnels in the cave system, the mutterings of other voices drawing his attention. His tongue slid over his teeth lazily, large paws plodding over the damp stone. It was cold and dank down here, but it was a fitting enough environment for the beast of a boy, who had become rather dangerous in his own right with his temper and his growing size. His nostrils flared, the words growing louder but not quite enough to make out, before they cut out entirely.

Janus moved, instead, to follow the freshest scents, curiosity at the very least had not left him. His ears flicked, eyes catching the forms of two wolves in the near-darkness, perhaps the source of the odd mutterings, but most definitely the source of the scents. He heard the older male's words and snorted, unable to discern what exactly he looked like in the darkness, but able to see enough to note that he was older. The accent was curious but only distantly so- Janus rolled his shoulders and made no move to hide his form from the girl that approached.

"You could get lost down here, girl. Run home, before the shadows get you." He would not defend her should this older boy attack, she had done nothing for him, and he was not a knight. Janus would, however, warn her doubly- if she continued towards them it would be her funeral.
