The boy continued to sun himself, eyes closed against the sunlight, the cool breeze counteracting the heat of the sun in a very pleasant manner. He was perfectly content at the moment, simply being alone with his thoughts and himself, but quiet pawsteps jerked him out of his peaceful state- followed swiftly by a quiet greeting. Xerxes opened one teal-blue eye, greeted with the sight of a young girl, staring up at him from the ground. It took him a moment, rather disoriented with her sudden appearance, but it wasn't too long until he cracked a grin and replied with a greeting of his own. "Oh, hey there." It came easily to him, that charm, like the flick of a switch, but it wasn't for any other reason than because it was expected.
A pretty boy like him needed charm to get along- no matter if it felt a little dangerous to be so coy. Xerxes wasn't entirely blind to himself, after all in order to know something was wrong there needed to be a degree of self-awareness. But he wasn't so lucky as to be able to figure out what that something was. He rose languidly from his rock, stretching out his front and then back half, before sitting primly with his tail wrapped around his paws. "Can you get up here?" He asked, head cocked. "There's a little ledge around back, if you can scramble up. I'm not even entirely big enough for it to be easy, but the sun and the breeze are rather pleasant up high."
He grinned again, hoping his enthusiasm would be infectious enough to give the girl the strength to clamber up the side of the rock- he wasn't about to hoist her up by her scruff, Xerxes found that method of transportation incredibly dehumanizing. The boy figured if he could lock himself into something normal-doting on a pretty girl, that was- it might convince the rest of him to follow suit.
His life, however, was an epic, and those rarely ended happily. Cosmic irony, and all, that he would try his best and fail.
