At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

A Promise Was Made

If it was even possible, she stared at him just as intently as he stared at her, her beautiful pools of honey sparking such feelings in him so as to make him act a fool. Adrenaline and magic ran like wildfire through his veins, giving him cause to be thrilled and excited, and yet at the same time terrified and nervous. She was the one - it was the one truth he was most sure of above all others. This femme fatale had a sway over him and would help him find himself - who he was, what he was meant to do and who he was meant to be. Now that he had found her, Drizzt knew he would be able to love no other. Perhaps he would or would not come to love her, but the connection between them was undeniable. He could feel her emotions flowing through her, through the air, through him. Drizzt could feel the attachment to her, and knew that he would never be able to leave her. Perhaps he could stray from her for a minute or an hour to hunt, or a few days in order to travel and visit his family... but he would not be able to ever say goodbye. Everything he felt for her, it was just as the angels had said. He - as a Tempest - had only one meant for him. Though they would not necessarily ever love their Soulmates, Tempests were unable to love any other, and they were unable to ever reproduce with another. This brindled dove was for him, and he for her.

Drizzt had spoken though, a clumsily strung together string of syllables, but the lassie seemed to not have heard him. Instead, she asked her own question, and she could not possibly know how right her phrasing was - she not only inquired as to his name, but also his essence. The cremoro swallowed and braced himself as his azures followed the motions of her bodice as she first rose and them neared him. She seemed to have no boundaries and stood unafraid and unaware into his space, her facade mere inches from his as she studied him. "I am... umm... well... I am Drizzt. If you know Kalgalath... or Aindreas, maybe... I am related to them. Elsewise I am... well I am me. And I am... I am a Tempest. I am descended from the one line that left and with the magic released, it has awoken within me." Whatever nerves and anxiety were present while he was talking about himself vanished as soon as he mentioned the word 'Tempest'. He could not possibly know that at this instant, his 'uncle' had experienced something similar. The magic that ran through his veins gave him bravery, strength, wisdom, cunning... but all of that was overpowered by his anger. But the feeling - so odd and alien to Drizzt who had always been so calm - seemed dulled in the lady's presence.

And then the lass introduced herself, her own words decorated with flowery words and phrases. Drizzt tilted his cranium and peered at her. "You... you are mine. You are mine and I am yours, but it is not a matter of want, it is just what is. You are my destiny, you are my Soulmate. That is the truth of it. What happens from here is up to you and me. Us." He grazed his gaze over her and swallowed. She was beautiful, her body curling and curving the way that it did. Her voice was hypnotic, the lilt of her timber rising and falling in sweet soprano tones. Her long lashes graced her shades and invited him in closer and closer. She was perfect. Drizzt slowly shook his head - finally at long last he understood how Motionless felt, and understood how she could never be the one for him. "I can see our potential. I mean you are... you. I mean.... wow. But I am... me... I know that doesn't mean anything to you because you don't know me. But I am not.... I mean I have never... I do not know how to court someone." Drizzt shook his head and looked down in embarrassment. He felt awkward and unworthy in her presence, and given his terrible set of socialization skills, he had no idea what to do next. How to act. What to say.
