At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The air grew thick and heavy as the tiny pastel girl trailed alongside the pits of black and brown tainted water. She'd been separated from the rest of the rainbow pups, — whenever Princess Zawyne released them, the rainbows herded behind her to their freedom, but Vera had found herself overwhelmed and, in her panic, helplessly lost. But she found herself in a new land. Her new home. She could feel the magic emitting from the territory and could even recollect the names of the lands in it. She felt the others nearby, as well as their guardians, the Tempests, and also.. something else.

But it was all too much for the young lass to process, so here she found herself, wandering aimlessly beneath the gentle rays of moonlight. Bounding over collapsed tree trunks, as well as their enormous roots, Vera climbed her way deeper and deeper into the swamplands. The heavy perfume of moss enveloped the small being.

Then it became dark.. extremely dark. The thick foliage blocked the little light that the moon provided to guide Vera's path. That's when she saw it, — what began as a small, solitary white glow became another. Then another.. and another. In only a matter of moments, and to Vera's delight, fireflies swarmed the entire scene. A single, small pastel blue and green tinted paw swiped up at the flickering lights, her bright purple orbs widening in amazement.

Once she found herself standing upon one of the longer fallen logs, Vera took off excitedly after one of the mini bugs. Small, cheerful yips soon turned to yelps, however. As a result of her full sprint, the young rainbow found herself clumsily stumbling over an unexpected root that hugged across the top of the log.

Vera slipped at a seemingly slow rate. Desperately grabbing at anything that was in her short reach; wet earth met her paws, as well as loose roots and other fallen logs. Finally, the lass managed to pull her front pillars over a half-submerged limb. In this position, all Vera needed was someone to pull on the other side of the limb. The petite girl wailed, short whimpers erupting from her pink maw and disturbing the choir of crickets around her. Already, she could feel her body growing tired. She was too weak to hold on very long, and definitely too frail to pull herself back up over the edge. Purple orbs frantically searched through the darkness, searching for anyone and anything that could help her. Would she be rescued? Or would she perish, even after all the effort they'd put into escaping?
