Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

a bit of poison, a bit of powder

a bit of poison, a bit of powder

It seemed to Arace that Zelda was not as perturbed by her speaking at first as she had assumed, if only because the female held onto her composure so well. She supposed being in a position of leadership did that - made one as much as an actress as a skilled assassin. Was this her own execution then? Pine had, at least, been quite blunt about what she wanted. Suffering in return for the mental anguish the loved ones had felt. Love was a... it was different. Arace had never assumed to 'love' anything. The bond between her and Starfall was some new bit of sorcery that she had never experienced elsewhere and she found it fascinating as well as beneficial for her own safety. Even if, in these moments, she felt disgusted at her own figure. Her lack of strength and her bum paw.

In response to her jibing, however, Zelda's face turns into a frown, her own displeasure finally breaking through and causing the yellow eyes of Arace to flash in victory. "Fair is not always how things are done, nor should it always be. Tell me, Savior Queen, has nothing happened in your life that wasn't fair? Did love come and leave or been torn from you? Fair is a myth - what is done is about survival and one's word and honor in such. She did not lie about her intentions for me and while a clean death would have been preferable to such a state of anarchy on myself, it was carried out just as she had deemed it. I'm not even sure what justice means, but I suspect it is much different, our ideas of it." Perhaps her words are cold, but there is fervent belief in them; one could not say Arace's life has been easy. It has not, but she had never suspected that there WAS an easier way. Never truly considered until it was too late and she was fine with what she had become.

"Not that I am ungrateful for your attentions." The last was tacked on as an afterthought, noting the disturbed look on Zelda's face. "I am unlike you in thinking, I take it." A saucy grin is offered again, primly, but it falls quickly at the pain in her face. Zelda is so... fair. So kind. It seems harsh to be so blunt with her but Arace would not go into whatever THIS was pretending to be something she was not. She was, at least, honest in this, her actor face tucked back and hidden. There would be no use for it now anyways. What did she have left to do if her paw never healed?

Help me, help you. He would be. A sly look is given in return to those words, measuring and calculating. In those words Zelda spoke her feelings of Arace in placement to those of Starfall - she was a loyal mistress, it appeared, to her own pack. It is honorable and honor is a thing Arace can respect so she nods with an exaggerated end. "You call it fate, I call it sorcery, but I won't complain." Starfall had done much for Arace these few days in taking care of her, something she had no doubt would never have happened without this bond. She could see a change in him - did that mean she was changing as well? A disturbing thought.

Zelda's interpretation of her words makes Arace chuckle suddenly, mirth in her eyes. But she does not answer because she had no clue, really, what she would have to do. An assassin assassinated and without out.. what could she be? Who could she be? It makes her uncomfortable to think about so she turns instead, to this conversation about her own purpose here. Zelda is a fighter - she fights for this chance at redemption for Arace, and it sinks into the slender assassin, her ears pricked to hear her out. Teach, spy, listen. All things she did, minus the actual action part, and it... doesn't sound half bad. Not when Zelda puts it that way. She appears thoughtful, nodding almost slightly as if she was asking internal questions and answering them.

Apologize to Tithe? A look of horror encompasses her face. "Apologize?" The word comes out in shock, as if the idea of apologizing is so foreign to Arace that it might never have been heard of at all. Then her ears tip back and she grunts a sigh. "Fine." The words are gritted, annoyance there, but she refrains from anything else on THAT particular topic. Zelda's view on beauty did little to assuage Arace's discomfort. She knew she was a beautiful wolfess, had used it, banked on it, and scars were... scarring. Hard to miss. It makes her grunt so that Zelda understands she knows what she is saying but doesn't quite agree.

"I will not harm any forest wolves while I am under your service, for however long that may be. As I heal, I will train with those you wish me to train with and teach them my skills, not that I expect much from any of them. It took me many years to become as good as I am," she says, her words revealing her true ego and pride, but that is simply who she is. "My word is given, now have we an accord?"

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
