Giving a small wag of his tail as the Elder emerged, Halcyon took a step back as he shook his white fur and offered a slight grin at the title. The younger wolf smiled back and nodded, acknowledging that the other did not wish to be called as such. Many wolves found it odd to have such high ranks and titles bestowed upon them, but it was always a curtesy to give them just in case. Though he did not have much memory of his father, he would always remember that lesson. It has saved his neck more often than not. As Tesseract stretched, Halcyon could see the array of scars covering his body. Signs of a hard life lived, of battles won and lost, each one told a story that he found himself wanting to know about. The scar on his throat was such a bookmark in his own story, telling of the foolish battle he had lost against Tick Tock.
Pointing a paw in a random direction, Halcyon bade for Tesseract to follow and together they walked side by side through the plains. Nodding as the other mentioned his health, the russet alpha smiled. "Thank you, I feel a lot better. There are times when I still get winded or weak, but they are becoming less frequent." For a moment, his thoughts were taken back to when he had come close to death from that illness. But he cast them away just as quickly as they had come. His health had returned and while he was still trying to put on more weight, his coat shone brighter and seemed less matted. By summer, he knew he would be completely healed. Turning to Tesseract, he stopped their walk a moment to look at the Elder. "How do you like living in Asteraia? Aster told me you were a loner before coming here. Were you living in the free lands long?"
The questions came quickly and the younger wolf reigned in the others that wanted to spill out. Tesseract was one of the few wolves Halcyon had met who an epic story to tell of days long gone. He was eager to know more about the Elder and his family, including Aster. Maybe he could even ask about Iblis, since the alpha knew little about his father other than the vague stories he remembered from his childhood. For now, he started with a simple ice breaker and waited to see where the Elder took the conversation.
