F or weeks, it had been silent in the demon’s coven. The monochrome beast had come to the lands based on an infatuation with their Queen, Motionless. But the ghost was nowhere to be found; even her scent had begun to grow fainter with each passing day. After her... exhibit, with the corpse of her prior mate, a scene had unraveled concerning her and Drizzt, and she had grown quiet ever since. Perhaps the hauntings of their pasts were too much for some lupines.

This beast hoarded his own secrets; his own deep, dark fetishes. The crimson shade that haunted so many others had stained his ivory pillars many of times. After experiencing the heartbreak that Motionless obviously had gone through; Xarxes began to reflect in the back of his cranium about the terrible things that he had done. He pitied her. He felt drawn to her. But Xarxes felt a different kind of hunger than most. This hunger was violent, aggressive. He lashed out at vixens and tormented them. Who would have guessed that such a handsome face would be so awful?

Nobody; that was exactly who. Xarxes was too perfect. A handsome, skilled warrior. He excelled at any task handed to him. And, - he was wonderful with his victims. The massive brute would make these females fall hard for him, convince them of a future together. But he only wanted one thing from them all. Pain. He loved to see them writhe in pain.

He had heard his Queen’s lyrics; a demand. Follow her, get away. And the monochrome demon was to follow her; had he not heard the next call. This next howl was venomous, each lyric dripping with poison. So instead of following his ghost, his bulky frame began to push through the heavy foliage of their recently transformed kingdom.

When Xarxes reached the clearing that once held the throne of Motionless, there now was another demoness in her place. A dark female with vibrant, red eyes. Alongside her was one other male, and a handful of.. children. Each with the same crimson hues, save for one of the pups. The monster recognized not one lupine besides Perdere, and whenever he began to navigate through the center of the clearing, his large crown had dipped in a subtle greeting to the kalak.

Then Xarxes was left to face what he could only assume was the new queen. And what an odd one she was; he could not pick up a scent on her. In fact, the demon could not smell the perfumes of any of the gathering except for Perdere and the youngling without the red eyes. What exactly was going on?

He waited for Perdere’s lyrics to come to an end, and then the black and white beast approached the stone throne. The upper portion of his large silhouette lowered in a deep bow, and then his crown rose to address the vixen. “I believe that you’ve called for me, my Queen. My name is Xarxes.”

And when you've got nothing to turn black and blue,
You've still got Hell to look forward to,
