The small girl’s skin shuddered under the chill of sudden exposure. With a muffled wine, Corona tucked her nose into her stomach and curled up tighter, but the cold air was just too much to ignore. Breathing deep as she unfurled from her sleep, the young girl blinked away her sleep and looked around, finding herself no longer comfortable wedged between her two brothers and her mother nowhere within the confines of the small, dark space. Prometheus still slumbered against her left side, but her right flank was wide open to the icy air, and Saros…
Well, Saros hadn’t gone far. Pale blue eyes narrowed on the break of light against the far wall of the den, where Saros’ thick silhouette, hazed in a halo of dull silver light, ambled out into the world without. Curiosity got the better of the girl, and, with only one last glance at Prometheus, Corona carefully pulled herself away from the warmth of his fur and followed Saros quietly into the growing night.
Moving as quietly as she could in her brother’s wake, the girl’s pale stare remained fixed on Saros’ silver and white fur, finding him easy enough to follow in the gray light, as the waking moon all but shone from his coat against the dimming landscape. There was no concern in Corona’s thoughts as she followed her brother into the shadows of the trees, and, as he slowed down, a playful smile pulled at her lips. Thinking herself heard, the small girl gave up her cover, bursting forward to tackle her brother with an innocent giggle.
