Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

INDIGO
SOFT BREATH, BEATING HEART
AS I WHISPER IN YOUR EAR
I WANT TO FUCKING TEAR YOU APART

As she grew older, Indigo found herself wandering further and further from the watchful gaze of her family. She felt disillusioned with those sorts of bonds. Other Mother had died and everything had fallen to pieces. She followed Adrian today, the adoptive sister, bound not by blood but by something else. The mute girl was protective of her sisters, and she did not mind that the soot-colored girl was not a true sibling. She slept with them and had nursed from Mother, and that made her family enough. They were all just bodies to keep the den warm, after all. Without considering blood, they were all equal. She sniffed along the ground, trailing Adrian lazily, before she saw her sister examining the river.

With her head resting at a slight tilt, Indigo moved towards her dark-pelted sibling, a low growl rumbling from her chest and announcing her arrival. She could not speak, for whatever reason-- but she was a fine conversational partner all the same. A good listener, she was. Her nose went to press against her sister's side in a harsh display of affection, not unlike the sorts of things Mother and Other Mother had done when they had been paired in life. Indigo wondered if Mother wished for death so they might be reunited, but she did not think she would like to see another pair of lifeless eyes ever again. She exhaled sharply through her nostrils, pulling away from Adrian if she had allowed the touch. Without a way to express them, her emotions were kept simple.

Indigo gazed at her sister evenly, giving her a questioning grumble. The river was nice but it was close to home. It was not much of an adventure, if that was her intention. Adrian had been spending more time with Alphess Pine and her pups, but today she was alone. She struggled to understand the reasoning. With her thick pelt, perhaps she wanted to swim, but she was not in the water. Her brow creased in frustration, and she gave another grumbling snarl, before looking curiously towards the river and back again to Adrian.

It was a good day for swimming. So why the hell weren't they in the water already?
