Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

Vladimir had been shocked when the pup had said he didn't know how to swim or fish or hunt. When Scamander asked how old Vladimir had been, Vladimir remained silent for a moment - very uncharacteristic for him. But he wanted to be able to give a good answer, and only after thinking about all of it first. After all, in the back of his mind he had wondered, ever since the voices in his mind had told him about the rainbows, why they needed protecting. He had thought at first that maybe they were merely highly sought over... but it was more than that wasn't it? Perhaps they were weaker, more fragile as well. The grey wolf cleared his throat and smiled down at the pup. "I started learning how to swim when I was had first opened my eyes. Fish came soon after that, and then hunting training began after that. But I come from here, a much different place than you. I will teach you what you need to know - fishing is difficult to get used to, but once you do it is easy." The pup mumbled an apology and Vladimir's heart skipped a beat. "You do not need to apologize, Scamander - you are in a whole new world, I would be more surprised if you weren't curious about everything." Vladimir had decided that any teaching that would occur would not be today - the pup was exhausted and thinner than he should be, and so Vladimir had caught him a coney. It was large and fat, as it was preparing for the winter, and would at least fully fill up the pup, and likely leave leftovers. Vlad waited patiently for the pup to be full and then picked up the leftovers, and started carrying it as he led Scamander to his and Seraphina's den.
Seraphina had been much gentler with the worms than Vladimir ever could have hoped to be, and she had done a wonderful job of coaxing them to make their way from the leaf Vladimir had brought onto the wall further out of the darkness, closer to where they had chosen as their actual den. Though the darkness was no longer an issue for Vladimir, it was for Seraphina - and would be for Scamander as well - and now neither she or he would not stumble around dangerously in the darkness. The glow worms were not too many, rather they had slowly made their way up the walls and to the ceiling and stayed there, dim but beautiful individual spots of light in the darkness, almost like individual stars and constellations of the night sky. He had never made that connection before, and he smiled at the thought of it now... and his grin only widened as her scent flooded into his nares, and his eyes caught onto her bodice as it emerged from the back of the cave. Sera ran to him and kissed his cheek before asking who he had brought with him. Vladimir nuzzled her in return, hoping to ease the transition and the meeting of his mate to his ward - he had told her about the rainbows, his duty to them... but honestly this pup was the first rainbow that either of them had ever seen, and he wasn't sure if she had fully believed him on this one point. But Vlad needn't have worried - Seraphina instantly took a liking to the pup and introduced herself to him. Scamander had immediately hid behind Vladimir, but did talk cautiously in return, and Vladimir smiled, glad that they were getting along.
Vladimir extricated himself from Scamander, careful to not touch the rainbow at all, and moved to Seraphina's side, nuzzling against her. A part of his mind wondered how she was truly feeling. It was not all that often that he used his Tempest powers on Seraphina - most of the time it was because she so commonly spoke her mind. She was not quite or subtle, and he did not need to use his powers to see that. But when it came to this rainbow, when it came to Scamander - his ward - he needed to be sure. His gaze focused on her - focused on her soul in order to see her true feelings and emotions... but instead what he got was the surprise of a lifetime. Instead of seeing just one aura - Seraphina's - he noticed a few. Hers... and the few within her. Vladimir stood still... shaking his head. It didn't make sense - he had never seen other souls within her before, not until now. But he not focused on her soul, not since.... well not since that...night...
It did make sense, all of it, didn't it? They had slept together, they had consummated their love. And that had been... what... a few months ago? Two? Everything had been normal. Sure, Seraphina had been getting slower, and he had assumed that was why she was getting a little rounder - that her inactivity had caused her to gain a little weight. He had hardly noticed it, and had been more worried that she had been tireder, slower. His mind had never considered... never even considered... that she was pregnant. It all made sense now... and... hadn't it been just about time? Now? Vladimir glanced back to Scamander - the pup did not need to see what would be happening soon - the birthing. But first... first he had to tell Seraphina. His blue orbs moved up to lay on her. "Seraphina... you... you are... pregnant. The word didn't leave his mouth. Instead he glanced back toward Scamander and smiled at the pup. "You must be tired, little one. Let's show you your own little den." Vladimir moved toward the back of the den and gestured for Scamander, so that he could show him the way. "You can stay down here to sleep, Scamander - I promise you will be safe." He paused, waiting for Scamander to get settled before he started walking back to where Seraphina waited. He closed his eyelids and pressed against her, nuzzling her. "Seraphina... you're... pregnant."
