The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Slowly Harlow was acclimating to his chosen home. It was far from what he considered an ideal choice - it was too open for his taste and lacked the cover of trees that he preferred. He had always been a wolf of the wood - born among the very roots of the forest where his family resided; the forest is where he learned to hunt and ultimately learn how to survive. His time spent among the trees had played such a role in shaping his life and bringing him to where he was now. They were always such an integral part in his mind and harbored more life than any other land that he had known, no matter where he traveled. It was a constant and comforting fact that he felt never changed, forests were life.

Graes Waegohlm could not have been more different. It was essentially a wasteland - a grassy land littered with rocks and bushes and little else. A grouse and a hare were the largest prey animals he'd encountered thus far, so hunting were marginal at best. The land also seemed to be distinctly cooler, the rocky terrain laid bare to the heavens above - this was especially true with the winter season now in place. Heavy mists and frosts were common without the sheltering canopies overhead. Harlow's coat had thickened up with the change in the season but living beneath the open sky had encouraged a little extra growth. His fur had darkened slightly in appearance as a result, going from a faded off-black tinged with grays and browns to an almost true black except for the framing highlights wherever his paler undercoat happened to show. On his face, his peppered mask of the earthy tones remained evident and proud, giving him an arguably distinguished look with ripples of the same color throughout his thick ruff.

Though for it's downsides, Harlow still found himself ever so slowly growing used to the territory in the few months that he'd lived there. In the passing time, he felt that his paws were learning the rugged paths and he could cover the uneven ground much quicker than he had been able to upon his arrival without so much a need to slow and consider the footing. Even with the swirling mists that seemed ever present, he felt a growing prowess in his knowledge and familiarity of the territory. That pleased him and with his recent appointment as the young pack's Beta, the male was genially satisfied that he'd seized the opportunity for the position of leadership, for an assortment of reasons. He had a pack now, and though he had yet to truly decide what he thought of his packmates, Harlow enjoyed the sense of belonging that it afforded. It felt potentially like a step in the right direction from the stagnant and monotonous pattern he'd fallen into as a lone wolf, or at least a direction he was willing to pursue further to see where it went.

Harlow wasn't making a habit of patrolling the borders, really, but that crisp morning found him strolling amongst the wisps of mists lingering about beneath the still gray sky. However he did enjoy the freedom that the duty presented as well as the opportunity to learn the land better, especially if he was to continue to live here. It was as he strolled along not too far from edges of what was considered to be Graes that the howl of another resounded from relatively nearby and for a long moment. Harlow stood, deep-lobed ears cupped forward simply listening to the remnants of the howl as it faded away, head tilted slightly. As the last notes ended, Harlow considered the idea of the wolf lingering about the border for only a moment before ambling along the rocky ridges towards the pack's markers that Siku had left. The younger brute waited just beyond the scent border, sitting expectantly with senses trained outward to notice the arrival of any to answer his call. Harlow approached slowly, plumed tail held in a loose arc, weary of the stranger but also distinctly curious. "Greetings, young stranger." He ventured, looking the younger wolf over as he drew nearer. A hesitation gripped him at the unfamiliarity of this situation he found himself in, greeting another wolf on for the first time as a pack wolf. It was only a fleeting moment before he pressed on, acknowledging and pushing aside the hesitation in light of figuring out what was going here. "What brings you to call out to the Graes pack? I am Harlow, the pack's Beta."
